Key Skills Successful Professionals needs to demonstrate in 2023

A recent article published in Fast Company identified these 5 skills professionals need to impress hiring managers and get the job in 2023.

Not surprisingly these are some of the same skills that make good employees great leaders. Who wouldn′t want to work for a leader that demonstrates and champions these 5 capabilities amongst their teams and throughout the organization?

Let′s take a closer look at each one:

Curiosity- ??A person who is curious asks great questions. They love to investigate and discover new things. New experiences and situations are exciting, invigorating and are opportunities to see and do new things. ?

Learning agility-?A person who demonstrates learning agility enjoys learning new things. These people can speak to a number of topics. While they don′t need to know enough to win on Jeopardy, they know at least a little about a lot of things. We often call them “well-rounded.” Along with a desire to take in new information the agile learner can also take what he learns and apply it in a variety of contexts and situations. ??

Growth mindset-?Is a term introduced by the renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. In her book ?Mindset: The New Psychology of Success she discusses her research into the origins of mindsets, their role in motivation and self-regulation, and their impact on achievement. A growth mindset is essential for success.

The findings from my own?pseudo-research as an Executive Coach, friend, parent, family member, etc.. is 100% aligned with the ideas that Carol introduced us to.

Every person who is successful in leadership and in life thinks that they are in a continuous state of growth and development. Intelligence and personality are not fixed, deep-rooted traits. Our mind is in constant evolution along with our bodies and spirit.

Growth vs. Fixed Mindset

Those with a Growth Mindset demonstrate a desire to conquer new challenges. They willingly accept and find it motivating to work in unfamiliar areas that allow them to grow their capabilities. They thrive in situations that require persistence to succeed. They have an inner belief that they can achieve their goals and are motivated to succeed by challenging themselves.

Critical analysis-?A person who demonstrates critical analysis has the ?capacity to look at issues from different perspectives, entertain multiple points of view, analyze and synthesize the information, and then make an informed decision, even when the concepts are quite complex.

Collaboration-??A person who is collaborative understands that working with others is key to achieving results. A collaborative leader focuses on contributing to the delivery of shared goals and supports their team to meet their individual needs in the context of the team and organizational context.

Leadership is not determined by title. It is about who you are and how you interact with others. Great leaders are lifelong learners. They are focused on continuous improvement, and strengthening their ability to adapt and reframe challenges as learning opportunities.

Thanks for sharing; I always value your insights. I especially like that you addressed collaboration in here as I feel true leaders CAN achieve better things when they put away the "I can do it myself!" and instead focus on collaboration.
