5 E's for Heart - AI for Support
It all started when I've listened to Teaching with AI: Empowering Educators for the Future Classroom - Unlock Learning Potential, Save Time, and Simplify the Complexities of Integration in Education. I understand it's great that AI can help with teaching ideas. But wouldn't you want an educator, with much experience working with children and youth, to give you ideas? Then I realized that much of the routines teachers do today can be assisted by AI. Then teachers will really need to step forward to facilitate creative problem-solving, mentor toward autonomous and collaborative learning, and engage students in activities that foster the 21st century skills. Wow. That must be very scary.
So I reached out to two colleagues and friends: Dr. Rachelle Dené Poth and Kirsten Wilson , both of whom I met as part of our contribution to the Human Intelligence Movement, I'll tell you more about soon. We discussed teachers' challenges these days. And thought we'd provide shared webinars combining our expertise, to not only equip teachers toward teaching AI literacy, but also tool and encourage them to step forward as facilitators and mentor, for students' growth and achievement. I researched a lot lately about teachers' wishes for personal professional development, and found out that they much benefit from online professional community of learners, where the environment is safe and innovative. We'd like to provide teachers with such an environment. Here, save the dates. And if you know teachers that could benefit, do send them a link.
Saturday, November 16th, 12PM EST: Weaving SEL, AI, and Creative Problem-Solving for an Equitable Classroom, virutal on Zoom , with Kirsten Wilson and me.
Saturday, November 23rd, 12PM EST: Building AI Literacy and Fostering Creative Problem Solving, also virtual on Zoom , with Rachelle Dene Poth and me.
Check it out now, and hope to see you there. I tried to explain on the events' pages why this kind of PD is so essential and timely. So don't discourage, the event itself will be lively, engaging and fun. As proof, you can listen to Rachelle Dene Poth's podcast interviewing me , and Kirsten Wilson' podcast we me, offering a delightful interesting conversation . It was a great success, due to her co-host Matthew Caston .
So, if we go back to this article's image, our vision is to support teachers in amplifying their human intelligence with a big heart. The 5 E's serve to simplify their efforts. At the top of this article's image there are many excerpts of paintings I did along the years. I hope they give a clue as to how imaginative and creative children's and youth's minds can be. If we'd just give them opportunities to Explore their ideas in the classroom, Experience with them, Examine and Elevate, and Express finalized products signifying their creative problem-solving, that would great. Sounds complicated? Not at all, join our webinars, and you'll see.
Before we part, I'd like to share my presentation for GIFT, The Global Innovation Field Trip . I had a delightful day participating and listening to bright children and youth from around the world, creative problem-solving and making innovations that bring well-being to their communities. This is just what the OECD's Learning Compass envisions. The future is already here. Many thanks to Juli Shively and Jake Mendelssohn for this wonderful event, I was humbled to take part in. It was a pleasure to converse with the co-hosts, grown-ups and children, Alevil Macaisa , Ting Yin , and the wonderful Asher. Galit Zamler , thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful platform.
I am hoping to become part of the global guides team of Belouga, too. Thank you Evin Schwartz , for this amazing platform empowering children and youth to develop projects based on deep learning, also for the benefit of their communities. It just shows how much students can do, supported by teachers who believe in them and guide them (with a big heart).
Along my studies, I read many academic essays by Prof. and Dean Punya Mishra . You are most invited to watch or listen to the Advancing Education in the AI Era: Promises, Pitfalls, and Policy Strategies panel discussion he participated in. I think it can help you feel grounded, with all the AI in education buzz.
It was great presenting for the ICIE conference, The Center for Innovation in Education, being part of their global education leaders, who share a great interest and years of research and practice toward creativity in the classroom. Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Taisir Subhi Yamin . I was honored and humbled to share my 5 E's strategy, creativity education teacher training research, and creativity in the classroom workshop, in the online session he led, listening to amazing research done by colleagues. Also presented, Christine Boyko-Head Ph.D , whose course I was honored to participate in at CPSI (The Creative Education Foundation's Creative Problem Solving Institute), when I first came to present there myself. I was also humbled to listen to Joseph S. Renzulli , Sally Reis and James Kaufman . As you see, these are my heroes.

I hope to soon share with you the article I wrote for LTSIG - IATEFL's Learning Technologies Special Interest Groop's upcoming newsletter. I could share with you the pack of drafts I created while writing. I know I could learn to use AI for writing. But even regarding this article, you know why I do the efforts to write? Because I enjoy it. I enjoy thinking. Human creativity is simply one of the innate pleasures. I hope you also enjoy reading it. Actually, I can't share with you the pack of drafts I've made anymore. Because another pleasure of mine, is after devoting a lot of time to writing, when everything gets simple and coherent, I tear down the drafts one by one.
A new direction, based on my latest research, is helping principals through transformation processes in school. I hope to let you know soon about PD helping principals with communicative competency, gaining teachers' trust, supporting creativity in the classroom, and advocating upwards. It seems that principals' PD such as that, is much neglected. Thank you Nimrod Ben Noah ?? , for posting about the education leaders' conference. I am looking forward to it very much.
And last but not least, I provided the Education Department with a model and sample unit for teaching language skills together with creative thinking. Maybe I'll write my next article about that.
Creatively yours,
