Coaching is a partnership between the coach and the client. Today, the Sun is transited into Gate 59 in Human Design which I refer to as Intimacy in Partnership. Thus, how does a coach build this intimacy with another person?
1.???? Honesty.
A Coach needs to be honest about what she can and cannot do. There needs to be honesty in the sessions, to be able to provide guidance and, when necessary, tell it like it is. If the Coach isn’t honest with the client, she cannot help the client grow.
2.???? Vulnerability.
Face it, we as coaches have been there. We’ve had struggles similar to our clients. We have been brought to our knees more than once. This doesn’t mean we talk about us but when it is appropriate, to share our vulnerability with the client so that the connection gets stronger and trust is enhanced.
3.???? Transparency.
I think this goes hand in hand with honesty and vulnerability. It is important to be transparent in all our communications with our clients. This means we may need to share thoughts that provoke through pointed questions that can bring in a different perspective and give them some “food to chew on”. Where are they self-sabotaging, for example? If we don’t help them see that, they cannot move forward.

4.???? Commitment.
Our client needs to know that the Coach is committed to their growth, their evolution, their transformation. Their issues are the ones we work on with them. They need to feel that the coach “has their back”.
5.???? Trust.
When we are honest, allow vulnerability to show, are transparent in communication, demonstrate our commitment to the client, trust ensues and when the client trusts their coach, good work can follow.
