5 Easy Things to Try on ChatGPT Today
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has existed since the 1950s, but ChatGPT took the world by storm in late 2022 when it jumped to 100 million active users in two months, an adoption trajectory that surpassed the internet, Facebook, and the iPhone.
But what can ChatGPT do for you?
I was recently a speaker on two panel discussions on ChatGPT and the advice on both panels was to try/experiment with ChatGPT to see the power for yourself.
If you're ready to dabble in ChatGPT, here are 5 suggestions for relatively innocuous prompts to try.
Prerequisite
Before you delve into the world of Chat GPT, you need to create an account.
Start by going to: https://chat.openai.com/
There is a paid tier and free tier; this article is based on the May 2023 free tier.
1. Write a Complaint Letter
We've all been victims of bad customer service or over-billing, now you can have ChatGPT help you write a complaint letter to send.
2. Write a Review about a Business
Let's say you had a memorable experience with a business and want to leave a positive (or negative) review on Yelp or Google.

The original prompt without the 150-word limit created a very lengthy review. If you want to leave a shorter review you can always specify the word count.
3. Brainstorming Ideas
You can use ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas. Need ideas for your best friend's upcoming 35th birthday? ChatGPT can assist you in brainstorming fun activities.
You can refine the response by adding a city you'd like to celebrate in or other pertinent details.
4. Editing Your Copy
ChatGPT is not just about giving ideas and creating content, ChatGPT can rewrite your content for various audiences or different reading levels. Try writing a passage about yourself and ask ChatGPT to rewrite at various levels.
5. Write a Song
Not musically inclined, but want to write a somewhat original song? Ask ChatGPT! I recently asked ChatGPT to write a song about my alma mater and here's what it gave me (sans sheet music).
What was amazing about this song, was how much ChatGPT knew about Georgia Tech without having to provide a summary of my school.
Conclusion
After trying a few prompts with ChatGPT, I hope you find it a useful tool personally and professionally. If ChatGPT's answer is not quite right, you can refine the response by providing a few more details. While ChatGPT can be useful, some outputs may not be accurate or suitable for your needs. Always review ChatGPT's responses for accuracy and use good judgment.
