5 Easy Tasks to Set Yourself up for Success in September and Beyond

The week after a bank holiday can often feel slow and unproductive, with many people still in holiday mode.
But for those looking to make the most of this quieter period, it can actually be an ideal time to catch up on some much-needed CRM housekeeping :)
As a service based business owner your relationship with your clients is paramount to the success of your business. By taking the time to clean up and organise your Contact Relationship Management system, you can set yourself up for a successful September and beyond.
Here are five easy tasks you can tackle this week to make a real difference in your business:
1. Update Contact Information
Take some time to review and update the contact information for your clients, potential clients and prospects in your CRM. Ensure that all contacts have email addresses, phone numbers, and other relevant details, and make sure that they are correct and up-to-date.
This will help you stay connected with your clients and continue to provide them with valuable services.
2. Segment Your Contacts
Divide your contacts into different segments based on your relationship with them, their needs, preferences, and buying behavior. A CRM to me is a Contact Relationship Management system so all contacts can be looked after - as well as clients, potential clients and prospects, partners, suppliers, associates and even competitors can be on your CRM.
Segmentsing your contacts and makeing sure the segments are up to date will allow you to tailor your communications so that you are talking to the right person at the right time.
3. Clean Up Your Data
Eliminate any duplicate or outdated entries in your CRM system. Check your data retention policy (is this on your privacy policy?). This will ensure that you have accurate and reliable data to work with when engaging with your clients/contacts.
It will also help you avoid any embarrassing mistakes that could harm your professional reputation.
4. Review Your Pipeline
Take the time to review your pipeline. Check any notes or interactions you have had with your potential clients, and clients, over the past few months.
This will help you identify any follow-up tasks that need to be completed and ensure that you are staying on top of your potential clients and clients' needs and expectations, and of course your own budget and cashflow.
5. Plan Your Follow-Up
Use this week to plan out your follow-up strategy for clients and previous clients, plus partners, for the coming months.
Schedule follow-up calls, emails, or meetings to keep the lines of communication open and maintain a strong relationship with them.
This proactive approach will help you stay top of mind with your contacts and position yourself as a trusted advisor and reliable partner.
Wrapping Up
By taking the time to do some CRM housekeeping this week, you can set yourself up for a successful September and beyond in your business.
These simple tasks may seem small, but they can make a big difference in the long run. So, embrace the quietness of this week post bank holiday week and use it as an opportunity to fine-tune your CRM system and strengthen your relationships.
Your business will thank you for it :)

Who Am I?
I’m Julia Blake, I’m a business and systems strategist and consultant who has specialised for the last 15 years, in developing clear and effective systems and processes for service-based business owners.
As a business owner myself, I understand the challenges of running a business and what’s more, I understand the pain of losing out on revenue in the pipeline that is there for the taking.
I also understand the worry of not quite meeting clients expectations, and of not realising the life time value of a client.
I take my insight and experience, roll my sleeves up and we work together on turning your challenges into opportunities that will help you convert more leads; retain more clients; and grow your business.
Working with me, you make the most out of your 3 important assets:
1. your contacts and data;
2. your processes and systems – sales, marketing and financial; and
3. you – yes you!
When you make the most of your contacts and data and set up efficient, repeatable processes, you are not only in the best place possible to increase your revenue and reduce cost of sales and delivery, but you also gain more head space to focus on growing your business.
How do I work?
As a business and systems strategist and consultant I focus on business growth by:
Designing and creating bespoke CRM systems (often CapsuleCRM - I'm their first ever Gold Solutions Partner!) and integrating them with financial and marketing systems such as Xero, Transpond, Mailchimp; this enables your business to make the most of your contacts, manage your pipeline and provide a consistently high level of service to your clients.
Creating the right systems and processes to improve efficiency and free up your time to do more of what you want and need to do, and less of what you don’t.
I specialise in CapsuleCRM, Transpond and Mailchimp as standalone systems and joining them together with Xero provides you a cost effective and efficient foundation that you need to grow. The end result?
- More revenue
- Reduced costs
- Increased net profit and most of all,
- A happier you
