5 Easy and Simple Ways To Increase Next Years Sales (a quick read).
5 proven methods to help your dealership reach your sale goals next year.
- Offer your staff personal branding and marketing training so that they can brand and market themselves. Take it one step further and help them pay for their personal branding and marketing through monthly allowances and spiffs. Most salespeople do not want to do their own branding or marketing because it costs money, not because they are lazy (Many times it's money they don't have as most salespeople are actually struggling to pay their bills.). If you want to increase your dealerships overall sales this is the best way to do it!
- Know your numbers! You would be shocked at how many dealerships I go into that cannot tell me how many people walked through their doors last month and what the closing ratio is for any of their sales staff. How are you going to increase your sales if you don't know how many customers you need to get in front of or what type of training your staff needs the most help with? Such a simple thing to do and many dealerships don't do it!
- Make sure your online presence is clean, inviting and most importantly, engaging! I have yet to find 1 dealership who is doing Facebook properly. NOT ONE! We are told time and time again to make sure our Facebook page is engaging and not to use it strictly for "Today's Deal of the Day" or "Specials". It is ok to have that stuff on there as long as you also engage with your followers. Include pictures, video's or articles about your staff, "how to" video's are also great. Get involved with your community and share this stuff as well. Have a salesperson who is a great cook, have a "recipe of the week" video. Have fun on your Facebook, Twitter (think Wendy's, the most fun and engaging twitter account out there), Instagram, etc. It's not just about selling and announcing today's newest product, be engaging! This way when it is time to post about a sale or special, folks will listen and not get annoyed. Most importantly though, be consistent!
- Make sure you have the proper inventory. Do you have enough inventory? Did you order the right vehicles? How does your inventory present from a customers point of view? Ensuring you have the proper inventory is a special skillset and ability few have. It requires understanding your current market, your history of past sales and envisioning the future and upcoming trends. A great inventory manager is worth their weight in gold and can make a huge difference in your sales.
- Have your managers get more involved. A manager should not be the last person your customers meet when negotiating a deal. A manager should be involved early in the process and throughout it as well. In 2018 NextUp surveyed over 2 million automotive buyers. 16% of customers purchased from a dealership the first time they were in. This number increased to 35% when they were introduced to a manager early on in the process. Want to increase your sales at your dealership, get your managers involved early and often!
