5 Easier HTML and JavaScript Lessons to Try with your High School Students (Who Drive Too Fast)

Warning, rant ahead, then coding article. (Don't blame me- every article has to be a "story" now or people won't read it. YouTube tip, look it up.) Well, it's Wednesday morning and that means the kids at the high school go to school later ...around 9 am. (Because they have hard lives!) So at 8:59 am, when my friend and I are walking our dogs, we play chicken with the neighborhood teens racing to school in their "first" cars ala Steve McQueen. Music thumpin, sunglasses on, and looking cool. They're lovely little angels, I know, I have 4 kids, but they drive too fast. I defy you to find a teen who drives slowly in my neighborhood. They don't exist. The worst are the singers and texters and TikTokers - I actually think they're doing all 3 things at once as they make the mad dash to avoid the late bell. Here's my question: We have speedometers, we have self-driving cars, where's the device on the car pedal for teens that makes them actually go 25 mph when they're zooming up my street at 40? It has to be a thing. We have Alexa and she can turn down the heat and turn on Taylor Swift's new song... why can't she fix car speed? I'm sitting here writing this in wet socks because yes, I'm too lazy to go upstairs and get new socks, but also because I walk in wet grass and not on the streets on Wednesday mornings. Why can't we code the Foot Pedal Adjuster? SpeedRight? TikToKSlowDownAlot? Don'tKillMomSpeedApp? We need coders to come up with this product and make millions of dollars- I'm not selfish, you can have the idea. Below are some easier code lessons to start kids on their way. I tested these videos, found they're popular for a reason, plus offer a variety of different elements in HTML and JavaScript. Let's start these kids on a good coding path to save me and my socks on Wednesday mornings. Do it for me, do it for Taylor Swift.

3. How to Create Registration Form in HTML

5 minute watch time, sorta simple and good for twp class sessions.
Low quality audio, but great table example and Google is searching for more tables in for snippets in search results.
4. East Chatbot made with HTML and JavaScript
10K views and made in 2018 by Makkusu Otaku
8 minute watch time.
No audio, just watching him type code onto screen.
I don't recommend this to beginners because to make it DO anything, you need to make more code, BUT a great breakdown for a high school level course.
Code is available on Makkusu website and it does work in www.W3schools.com
5. Coding an HTML5 Canvas Game with JS in 5 min 30 sec
1M views and made by Chris DeLeon of HomeTeam GameDev.
5 minute watch time, simple concept for experienced JS students.
