5 Dos & Don’ts of Pivoting with Positivity & Proactivity
Today, we hosted another wonderful all-day Virtual Equality Lounge?. If you missed any of the sessions, they all live on the Female Quotient's LinkedIn page — check them out! Among the many incredible sessions and speakers, a few key trends emerged on how to best pivot during this time of disruption:
DON’T: Let isolation prevent you from getting the help you need to succeed.
DO: During these tough times, seek out resources that give you strength and share them with other members of your team. If you’re looking for a place to start, check out linkedin.com/coronavirus. You can also follow our FQ company page on LinkedIn and tune in to my daily LinkedIn Live series, #Unscripted.
DON’T: Blame yourself if you feel stuck in your career or you’re struggling to get ahead.
DO: Honesty is the best policy. Determine the barriers that hold you back and make a change so you can move forward.
DON’T: Wait for others to notice and reward your efforts.
DO: Own it! Attract and engage supporters by getting the word out about your skills, strengths, and hard work. Try reviewing your LinkedIn profile for starters to ensure it highlights your contributions, accomplishments, and success.
DON’T: Make connections without actively following up.
DO: To form a true alliance, you have to be intentional. Determine one way to give back to your community or one ask you have for your network to get help right now.
DON’T: Be afraid to enlist allies on day one.
DO: Go out of your way to reach out to others first instead of expecting them to come to you. The more people you have in your corner, the better. Expanding your network and leveraging relationships from the get-go is how you will gain the support you need to make a stronger impact.
