Live Panel: Overview of Findings from “Perceptions on Automated Interpreting”

You are invited to attend a presentation by Hélène Pielmeier , Senior Analyst at CSA Research, who has led a significant perception study for the Interpreting SAFE-AI Task Force. This study delves into the current perceptions of spoken and signed AI in interpreting. Hélène will present key findings from the extensive 350-page report, which encompasses over 9,400 data points from end-users, requestors, and providers of interpreting services and technology. ASL interpretation services will be provided by MasterWord .

In 2023, we delved deep into the language services sector, producing 109 reports to bring you the most comprehensive insights. Now, we're thrilled to share a special glimpse into this knowledge base: 5 crucial datapoints, selected from 15 key charts and infographics, are now available for free!

Request for Survey Participation: Climate Change, Sustainability, & the Language Industry

The Climate Change, Sustainability, & the Language Industry survey seeks to understand current practices, knowledge, and behaviors related to sustainability efforts. Using the results of the survey, stakeholders will establish baselines on attitudes and actions related to climate change and determine our industry’s role (if any) in promoting sustainability practices in business.?

The consortium includes the following members, each contributing to this collaborative effort by providing insight, perspectives, expertise, and support to the initiative:

  • CSA Research: Don DePalma , Chief Strategy Officer. CSA Research designed the survey with input from other committee members.?
  • Globalization and Localization Association (GALA): Allison Ferch , Executive Director?
  • MultiLingual Media: CEO Marjolein Groot Nibbelink , MultiLingual Media, publisher of MultiLingual magazine?
  • Language Transactions: Michael Klinger , Founder and CEO
  • Association of Language Companies (ALC): Sultan Ghaznawi , ALC Director, President of Hybrid Lynx

An initial version of the survey findings will be compiled and analyzed for publication in April's issue of MultiLingual magazine, catalyzing further discussions, initiatives, and best practices within the language industry.

Women in Localization Announces New Chapter in Switzerland

Women in Localization (W.L.), the leading professional organization for women in the localization industry, recently announced the launch of a new chapter in Switzerland. This will be W.L.’s 28th chapter.

Leading Women in Localization Switzerland is Chapter Manager Amaia Zaballa Zarzosa from Varian, a Siemens Healthineers Company. She is joined by Membership Manager Arijana Alagic, also from Varian, Mentorship and Education Manager Zo? Morrow from Avaloq, Social Media Manager Dania Dalmonte from Apostroph, and Sponsorship Manager Natalia Pita from FIFA.

The chapter’s inaugural event will be held in person on March 7, 2024, at 7pm CET at Avaloq headquarters in Zurich Manegg.
