According to multiple sources and material from a partner presentation obtained by CRN, Broadcom is taking VMware's top customers direct and will reject partner attempts to register deals with them.

Multiple sources said the number of top accounts being taken direct, around 2,000 globally, is in line with what Broadcom CEO Hock Tan has said recently in closed-door sessions with insiders.

Several VMware partners have reached out to CRN out of concern for their businesses and what they view as a lack of information that has emerged from Broadcom since it closed its $61 billion acquisition of VMware in November.

CRN learned that 30-year channel veteran and N-able executive Mike Cullen, known as "the godfather of the MSP industry," died earlier this week.

Cullen was recognized globally for his execution in go-to-market strategies, partner engagement, customer success and ecosystem selling. He was named to CRN's annual Channel Chiefs list for more than 15 years.

His work and commitment to the channel, paired with his larger-than-life personality, left a lasting impact on others in the industry, even those considered competitors.

Pax8's Rob Rae (who formerly worked for Datto) and Scalepad's Dan Wensley spoke to CRN about Cullen—"a legend in the channel."

What I see is a clutter of technology integrations making customers confused in the overlapping Enterprise portfolio. Aruba Clearpass with Juniper Mist? EX switches with HPE Wireless and Clear Pass integration? What will happen to Aruba Central? Will Juniper EX integrate with Aruba central? In all likelihood between the HPE and Juniper install base, one side of the customer fraternity will be sufferers in mid to long term
