WhatsApp frequently introduces new features. Some of these features improve the overall user experience, while others introduce new functionalities to the app. For example, features such as sending high-quality photos and voice chats in groups similar to Discord can enhance productivity and make the app more user-friendly.
Screen sharing on video calls
In a recent announcement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that users can now share their screen during video calls. This new feature is extremely useful for those who want to share something on their screen without having to use other apps like Google Meet, Zoom, Discord or Skype. It allows users to share their screen seamlessly with others, regardless of the platform they are on.
To share your screen on WhatsApp, simply begin a video call with either an individual or a group of people and tap on the 'Share' icon located at bottom of the screen. Once the app has been granted permission to record your screen, it will become visible to all participants on the call.
Send high-quality photos
WhatsApp is a popular texting platform used by billions of people around the world. However, until recently, users were unable to send high-definition (HD) images on the platform, which was frustrating. To do so, users had to rely on third-party solutions, which was inconvenient.
Fortunately, WhatsApp recently released an update that allows users to send HD images. Additionally, they have announced that they will soon add the option to send HD videos as well. To send an HD image, simply open a chat and select the image you want to share. Once on the photo-sharing screen, you will see an 'HD' button on the top bar. Tap on it to send the image in HD.
It's important to note that WhatsApp typically sends compressed images by default, so you will need to tap the 'HD' button each time you want to share an image in high definition.

Voice chats in groups
WhatsApp is introducing a new feature called 'Voice chats' for group conversations. This feature is similar to Discord's voice chat and Twitter Spaces. With 'Voice chats', group members will receive a silent notification instead of a ringing tone, making it easier to join or leave the call whenever they want.
Unlike 'group calls', where members need to be added manually, 'Voice chats' allows participants to join or leave the conversation at their convenience. This feature is especially useful when you don't want to disturb others and want to have a conversation with selected group members only.
Whenever someone initiates a 'voice chat', the group icon will automatically change to a waveform icon and display a 'Connect' button. This way, group members can quickly join the conversation without any hassle.
Edit sent media captions
If you've ever sent a media file on WhatsApp and realized that the caption contained errors or typos, you no longer need to worry about sending a separate message or resending the file. WhatsApp now allows you to edit media captions, just like the messaging app's 'Edit message' feature. You can edit captions for up to 15 minutes after they are sent. To do so, just tap on the media message with the caption and you will see an 'Edit' button, similar to the one you see when editing text messages.
Create groups without names
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made an announcement yesterday regarding WhatsApp that will improve user's experience. The new feature allows us to create groups with ease and without the need to name them. The group name will be automatically generated based on the participants in the group, for groups with up to 6 participants.
If someone who is not on your contact list joins the group, they will only be able to see your phone number and not your name. Moreover, the group names will be extracted from your contact list.
It is important to note that WhatsApp is still in the process of rolling out these features, so it might take some time before they become available on your device.
