5 Content writing blogs and newsletters to learn quality content writing

Dear writer, welcome back!

I'm happy to be back too! It's been a while since I published the last article. Forgive me for missing the last 2 months' publishing.

I am working on something that I will reveal by October. I hope you stay tuned not to miss it when it arrives.

First, did you learn anything new in the past two months? Have you learned anything new since we last talked about your skills to become a great writer? I hope you have.

I'm no expert. I share with you things that I've learned over the years as a copywriter and now a content writer. Truth is, my journey has been difficult. Yours shouldn't be like mine.

So, today I want to share with you the blogs and newsletters I read any chance. why?

They're my free guides in content writing. I would pay for premium content and courses, but why? I've learned a lot from these blogs and newsletters, and you'll agree with me. There's no need to pay for content writing courses when you're just beginning.

Let's get started.

5 Premium Content Writers (blogs/websites) to teach you Quality Content Writing

Marketing Examples - Copywriting by Harry Dry

"A gallery of real world?marketing examples?from successful companies. Want to perfect your cold email, boost referrals or improve SEO?"

I first read Harry Dry's marketing examples when my senior content manager at Softwarekeep.com share his article on 17 Tips of Great copywriting tips. To this date, this article is bookmarked on my browser, and I check it often. Why?

Content writing is an art. When I read that article, I saw things I'd always thought were complicated, made simple, human, and easy to understand. That's the first place I learned "writing like you speak," and I've never turned back. I have since found the art of writing and use it in my everyday writing.

I follow Harry Dry on Twitter and LinkedIn and cannot miss his newsletter, which he sends every Wednesday.

Backlinko - Copywriting and SEO Training by Brian Dean

"It's time to get backlinks that make a difference. Backlinko is the place for next-level SEO training and link building strategies."

While Brian Dean describes Backlinko as a site for backlinking, I read the blog site for great copywriting tips.

Brian Dean started Backlinko, an online marketing blog, in 2010, and since then the site has grown rapidly, with millions of visitors a month — a significant number for a blog in the insanely competitive SEO niche.

I know you're wondering why then I'm referring you to Backlinko for copywriting. Well, Go to the site and master their copywriting tips as they articulate their SEO strategies. It's a masterpiece. For example, their introduction isn't more than 7 short sentences. Read this guide, SEO COPYWRITING: The Definitive Guide, and you'll know why this is one of my favorite blogs.

AHREFS

Ahrefs is a content marketing tool/solution describing itself as "Everything you need to rank higher?& get more traffic." If you're just starting, you probably don't know what a content marketing tool is. Don't worry; take your time and learn.

I don't dispute their description because I rely on Ahrefs to grow my copywriting tips and search traffic. It also makes SEO dead simple. But that's not why I'm recommending it to you.

The blog site of Ahrefs is GOLD. They have data, statistics, and guides that will make your copywriting simple. They teach people about KEYWORD RESEARCH, which is the basic tenet of copywriting and content writing. All you'll need is time to read all their 250+ posts on content writing - with data and examples. I particularly recommend their Content marketing: A Comprehensive Guide because of its value for beginners.

If you're getting into SEO, they've created a simple-to-follow SEO Guide that introduces most SEO topics.

Neil Patel Blog - Content Marketing by Neil Patel

"Your #1 resource for digital marketing tips, trends, and strategy to help you build a successful online business."

You've probably heard that Neil Patel?is the father of digital marketing. It's true. What is he great at?

Copywriting and content marketing.

Neil is a prolific blogger. You'll be astounded by how much content is published on Neil's blog - and he does so regularly.

In fact, his blog earns 2.3 million visitors per month.

Together with his editorial team, Neil uses a streamlined content creation process, keyword research, topic and competitor research, and content distribution. His secret?

Neil keeps his posts simple and straightforward, and the goal is always to drive traffic and spark conversation.

I can promise you great learning from Neil Patel's blog and newsletter.

WordStream - Digital Advertising

The best way to learn copywriting or content writing is to learn ad marketing copy.

"WordStream?makes online advertising easy! Their blog, free tools, and learning resources can help you master digital advertising and grow your business."

Founded by Larry Kim?(the founder of MobileMonkey), I like WordStream's blog and newsletter for one thing: ad copy.

Once you master the art of ad copy, you'll learn three great things about content writing:

  • Make it educative
  • Make it interactive
  • Make it a good experience

Clients will buy from ads when they can interact with them and find value from them. Even when you're writing a product description copy, making it interactive gives the reader a chance to sit back and interact with the copy - which is a win for you.

Signup to Wordstram's newsletter for great tips on ad copy and digital marketing.

HubSpot Marketing

I’m usually against 'big company' newsletters, but I'm making an exception for HubSpot Marketing. Why?

"HubSpot's marketing has everything your marketing team needs, from startup to enterprise. Get blogging, social media, landing pages, email, and more."

I can’t deny this platform's help and content. You may wonder why the HubSpot blog attacks 4.5+ million monthly readers. There's more to learn in this blog and newsletter than any course would offer you.

Any company willing to offer free resources that are actually valuable earns a spot in my inbox.

Subscribe to their newsletter because it's resourceful and free.

In Conclusion

That's it: your 5 blogs and newsletters you shouldn't miss. I hope you subscribe and learn.

Now, subscribe to this newsletter - The Red Tie - for further updates and easy writing tips.

Like, share, and comment to help me distribute this content and get more subscribers because like you, I'm continuing to learn and share what I learn.
