It seems as each year passes that employees are spending more and more time at work. People are reading emails once they get up, getting into the office earlier, working through lunch and then working late. This daily grind can be drag and strain on your confidence. It is important to have a strong self-confidence which will help your performance and your relationship with co-workers.
Below are 5 confidence building tips to use at work.
1. Priorities, Planning and Preparation
It is important to set realistic work goals and priorities and then working to achieve them will help your confidence. The goals should center around your jobs and be very manageable, this will also help with time management and the best course of action to reach the goals.
Daily planning and preparation should also be an important part of your daily work life. It keeps you organized and on task, which also helps build confidence. You can plan for the know and how your would react to the unknown situations as best you can. If you know you have large task, try to break them down into smaller manageable tasks.
2. Keep track of your accomplishments
Success on any level is a confidence booster. Keeping track of what you are able to achieve will helps you see your strengths and weaknesses and in turn give you the ability to turn your weaknesses into strengths - thus, building confidence. Notice I said “your” accomplishments. Try not worry about those around you. Most comparisons aren’t accurate or relevant to you.
3. Work on building better communication skills
Communication is needed for almost every job there is. How you communicate and come across to others is very important. The stronger you are at communicating your goals, your projects and your perspectives to your peers the stronger relationships and stronger respect you receive, which builds confidence. The ability to listen to those around you is also an important part of communication.
4. How you handle and use criticism
I have seen people handle criticism very poorly at times which can have a negative impact on confidence. It is important to view criticism as a way to make improvements and to learn from your mistakes. As you learn, you will then be able to view new opportunities for career advancements.
5. Celebrate your accomplishments
Who doesn’t like a good party or a reason to celebrate? Make sure to acknowledge your accomplishments, thus growing your confidence. Take the time to reset your goals to be even larger. Work can be fun and give yourself reasons to have fun, nothing like a good celebration.
Cheers to great Confidence
