5 Common Myths About Sales Reps Debunked

If you've ever wondered how to manage a sales team to build a great sales team...

or if you know that building a great sales team could be the key to creating a business that runs on autopilot that could generate DOUBLE or TRIPLE your current revenue like a well oiled machine (whether you're there or not)

You would not believe how common these 5 myths are, here at?SMASH?we hear them from business owners all the time, who perpetuate these false beliefs and then wonder why their?sales team?is consistently underperforming.

Using the right techniques when hiring sales people and building a sales team can MAKE or BREAK your business, and could potentially set you up for a life of power and freedom in the next 5 years IF you avoid these all-too-common mistakes.

Myth #1: All Great Sales Reps Will Work On 100% Commission

All?sales reps will work on 100% commission?actually… but there is a HUGE if.

And that is, if you, as a business owner, have your shit together. That is the key.

That means you have to provide them with a process that shows them exactly how they can WIN EVERY SINGLE DAY. They don’t want to come in and guess what they have to do every day to win.

The second big thing with that is if you have?leads for them every single day to run with?and make sales to.

The third thing is to make sure you have clear and adequate compensation for them as sales reps.?

Those three things are how you show that you have your shit together.

Another thing worth noting is that you cannot expect any sales reps to find leads themselves, knock on doors, or anything like that, because it will cause too long of gaps to where they aren’t getting paid.?

Myth #2: A Rep Who Needs A Base Salary Is A Terrible Sales RepAs stated above, sales reps are not going to go for long durations of time where they aren’t getting paid. So, if you have a long sales cycle and it takes a long time for them to get paid initially, they’re going to want to bridge that gap.

Sales reps will not work for anyone for free for a really long time, just like how you don’t want to work for free. So, you have to have some sort of draw or base.

However, if you have a short sales cycle, then you may be able to get away with not providing a base, but a lot of sales reps will not work for a company that will not provide them with a base.

So, it is highly recommended that any company provides its sales reps with some sort of base to get started.

Myth #3: Sales Reps Only Care About Money.

This myth is simply not true at all. Sales reps want great culture, and they want to work for a company that exhibits great leadership, has great managers, and are overall great companies.?

So, it is important to have a great environment every day at work so that they want to get up and go to work every day. Believe me, sales reps will take a little bit less pay if there is a great?work culture?that they get to come to every day.

To think that a worker only comes to work every day just so that they can get paid more is absolutely nuts. The culture of the organization should be the main selling point when finding sales reps.

Myth #4: Anyone Can Be Trained To Sell

A lot of people apply to be admins or producers at certain companies, and they will have you start out in sales, which is absurd.

It’s like hiring someone to play baseball and hit balls at 40 mph if they’ve never...READ MORE
