The 5 C and 5 S benefits of attending to your Breath

People say:

  • Why breathe and meditate now? I am doing well in life.
  • We have been breathing forever. What is there to learn?
  • We will learn all this when we are old.
  • There is so many other things to do and there is just not time to sit for a few hours.
  • I have deadlines to meet / I have to take care of my children. There is no time.
  • I cannot sit for so long.

The list for why not to sit and attend to your breath through proper guidance goes on.

I thought today, I will make a list of why we should attend and experience the power of breath and meditation.

5C and 5S benefits of Learning to Breath and Meditation:

5C's:

  • Cleans your system - The breath is known to help detox more than 80% of toxins in the body. Using the right guided rhythmic breathing, one can feel free, light and healthy.
  • Calms your mind - We need a calm and centred mind for a right decision making. Just like the mind affects the breath, the breath can affect the mind too. Learning the right breathing techniques, one can be centred and calm in the midst of chaos. While the body needs exercise to tone itself, the nervous system and mind needs relaxation to sharpen itself.
  • Clears your vision: With a clear body and mind, the perception is sharp, accurate and unprejudiced. Life is but a combination of perception, observation and expression. Once the perception clears, the observation and expression follows.
  • Contentment dawns: When the different layers of ones existence is in alignment, contentment dawns. A sense of satisfaction sprouts without any reason. Peace becomes a part of our nature.
  • You become Comfortable handling tough situations: When your vision becomes internal, the external factors doesn't shake us and we become comfortable and relaxed in any situation. Emotional intelligence is a by product of a calm and centred mind.

5S's:

  • Soaring high energy: Learning the right breathing techniques, our energy level sky rockets. When we increase our lung capacity from 10% to possibly 80%, the amount of energy increases several folds. Self awareness and mindfulness will just be a by product of higher energy.
  • Feel Sooo Cool: Through rhythmic breathing the heat is the body dissipates and what remains is a stable and cool breath which reflects a stable and cool mind. May be this is what cool people were originally supposed to feel. :)
  • Meet your Self: Through the practise of meditation and breathing we learn to be with ourselves by sitting with our eyes closed for a few minutes everyday. With disciplined practise we start getting closer to our own programmed thoughts and emotions. We build a choice of reacting / acting to situations and people the way we want to.
  • Shining confidence: When we get closer to ourself somehow we are comfortable with others. Our observation and expression sharpens. Better listening skills is a by-product of the inner patience and confidence.
  • Undying Smile remains:When all the above is realised, an undying smile remains.

Aren't the above benefits priceless? Isn't it a good bargain to learn this by spending a couple of hours daily for a few days?

Let me know what you think and let me know if you want to explore.
