5 Books That Will Make Your Copy STRONGER

I'm not a "read-one-book-a-week" kind of guy.

Many reasons for that, but the main one is that you don't have time to implement anything.

And by rushing against the clock just for the sake of reading, you barely remember a thing from most books.

For me, quality always beats quantity.

Which is why it's better to read one book per quarter while actioning?a lot?of the advice you find inside.

Many books are chock-full of handy tips to succeed in life and business.

That's why, in today's edition of The Copy Titan's Digital Lab...

I'll show you 5 books I've read in 2022 that will make your copy stronger.

Let's dive right in:

1. The Truth: An Uncomfortable Book About Relationships?- by Neil Strauss

The New York Times Bestselling Author, Neil Strauss, is one of my favorite authors.

In fact, he's one of the reasons I started writing in the first place.

So, you can't go wrong with any of his books.

I started with "The Game", and "The Truth" is the second one I read.

(Reading a third one right now, which I'll share with you soon.)

Neil is not only a master storyteller...

He also describes things in an incredibly fascinating and attention-grabbing way.

His writing is truly unique, and he skillfully uses a ton of vocabulary.

He also has an email list, but he's not regularly messaging his audience.

2. The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer's Guide to Character Expression?- by Angela Ackerman and Becka Puglisi

If you wanna write hard-hitting, emotionally-packed copy...

This book should be your Bible/Qur'an.

In the Emotion Thesaurus, Ackerman and Puglisi have done a?terrific?job enlisting dozens of our core emotions.

And for each one, they have:

  • Physical signs and behaviors
  • Internal sensations
  • Mental responses
  • Acute or long-term responses for [X] emotion
  • Signs that [X] emotion is being suppressed
  • And much more

3. (+4.+5.) Deep Point of View, Dialogue, and Showing and Telling in Fiction?- by Marcy Kennedy

In fact, any book in Kennedy's "A Busy Writer's Guide" series is fantastic.

But so far, I've read these three, and I've been dumbfounded by every single one.

She gives a ton of examples, too, which is extremely helpful.

In general, Marcy's books will make you write with more punch and brevity.

6. Shantaram?- by Gregory David Roberts

Now, I'll be honest:

I've only read the first chapter of Shantaram...

But, boy, I don't remember reading a more brilliantly written novel.

And novels like Shantaram, The Count of Monte Cristo, East of Eden, etc. are incredibly helpful for developing your storytelling skills.

Because as you know, storytelling is the single most powerful vehicle for getting your point across...

So, knowing how to tell a good story can only make you a better (copy)writer.

Alright, these are six books...

But I decided to include one more as #3, #4, and #5 are by the same author.

You can't go wrong with any of them, but if you wanna make your copy 10x stronger quickly, start with the Emotion Thesaurus.

Until next time,

-- Svet
