The 5 best reasons to hire a professional copywriter (and not just use AI)

Here you are, reading this post, and armed with:
Of COURSE you can write!
But writing to convince someone of something…? To persuade prospects that what you’ve built is worth their massively limited attention? That’s an entirely different ball game.
Yet convincing is exactly what you’ve gotta do.
After all, you’ve poured your life and soul—all that genius!—into your business. Your career. Your offers. So much rides on whether people say yes!?
So…why do you need a professional copywriter—one with ACTUAL intelligence—to ensure your words lead to YES?
Five reasons:
1-Because all writing is NOT sales writing.
If you own a business, or work IN business, your words must convince readers to DO something: talk to you, buy from you, listen to you.?
When you’re clear about what you do, and, more importantly—why someone should CARE about what you do—that clarity converts people to your way of thinking. And they say yes more often.?
But most people (people who don’t write SALES copy) spend way too many words (and often choose the wrong words) trying to tell people about themselves, their products, and their services. They data dump. They (if I may) puke waaaaay too much detail about themselves upon listeners and viewers.?
Thing is, your prospects only care about what they can GET from you, your products, and your services.
I’ve been writing persuasively throughout my entire career. Worked in advertising. Earned a degree in journalism and advertising. One client calls me the Female Don Draper (which I love—because I’ve seen every Mad Men episode twice, AND own Don Draper DOLL). I’ve written a 3-time award-winning business book. Favorite pastimes? Wordle and crosswords.
But hey, why should you care?
One word: Results.
My clear words CONVERT prospects into clients, and clients into sustained revenue.
2-Because copywriters don’t just write.
I describe myself as a message strategist. Not because I like long words (!). But because the title describes my multi-layered process:

3-Because business is the act and art of connecting—to humans.
?As a human who writes—using my actual intelligence—I harness:
business trends + facts from clients’ intake forms + relevant tidbits from our conversations + LinkedIn and blog content + SEO + other thought leaders’ work + competitive intelligence + my 25+ years in business + cultural context + creative inspiration
But AI-generated content is severely limited—it draws only from the large language model it was trained on.
My clients also gain custom access to additional professionals in my network. And I don’t mean, “Hey, let’s connect on LinkedIn.” I regularly take time to personally introduce others to relevant professionals who can hire them, and whose services are relevant to the growth of their enterprise.
Who’s your CoPilot introduced you to lately!??
4-Because you don’t have all day.?
If you’re steering your own Entrepreneurship, I bet you dollars to donuts you don’t have the dozens of hours needed to research, write, rewrite, edit, de-jargon, fine tune, activate, and proof your website copy. Or strategize the ideal value proposition for your next sell sheet.
As?Mark Twain?famously said, "I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead."
Just how much wheel spinning are you willing to withstand?
?As you reach for more aspirin, are you?really?saving money??
5-Because no human can see all their own goodness.
Every single prospect I talk to says some version of: “I’ve tried to write my own ______, and I just can’t do it. I’m too close to it all.”
And I gently say, “Welcome to humanity.”
By nature, by definition, we are too subjective about our own selves to be…objective! Yet to express the value of a product or service from the prospects’ point of view, we must see our value objectively.
It’s a universal challenge to clearly describe the value of our work in ways that buyers care about.
Even I hire copywriters to help clarify and communicate my message.
So, bottom line?
You want a HUMAN copywriter who finds the most effective words to clearly and quickly describe the expensive problems you solve. Only then can you inspire more people to say YES, I WANT what you got!
