5 almost too easy tips to banish writer's block for good...

If you've ever sat down to write, and been left feeling like you’re trying to shoot blanks from your brain?

Then this will be the most important article you ever read!

And, here's why:

Back when I firs started in copywriting, I used to struggle really hard with coming up with ideas, or even typing at speed that didn't resemble a snail.

That is, until I discovered an easy way to prevent myself from ever suffering from writer’s block ever again.

You see:

What I discovered was that by taking the right steps before you sit down to write, the words almost pour on the page without much thinking.

And, it lets you get way more done in way less time as well.

I’m not even fast at typing, broken both of my hands (one of them even more than once), and I manage to write several thousands of words on any given day.

Now, I’m not saying that to brag…

Because, well, I don’t feel I’m even remotely gifted at this.

I just found a simple way that works for me, and I know it’ll work well for you, too.

And here it is:

Keep Your Tank Full

It becomes incredibly difficult to write if you’re always trying to draw from an empty tank, so keep it full. And, I do this by always consuming information about the topics I usually write about.

By saying that, I mean reading about them and consuming real information about it from actual authorities. YouTube doesn’t count.

Yes, video is great, but it’s not that great of a resource if you truly want to learn about something, and I say that as a tactile learner who was a mechanic for over 20 years.

If you want to be able to write well, you need to read.

Sounds like common sense, but common sense isn't so common anymore.

Inspire Yourself

Consume just as much information about the topics you enjoy reading about, other than the topic you usually write about.

For me, I love fishing, stuff about cars, and doing anything with my family.

When you do this, keep your eyes, and your mind open for instances and information that has overlap with your topics you usually talk about. You would be very surprised with how much things in life relate with each other once you finally open your eyes to it and start doing this.

That's because coming up with ideas is more about creating connections between two separate things rather than pulling something out of the abyss that never existed in the first place.

Live an Interesting Life

Have you ever heard of the quote about how if you want someone to be interested in you, then to be interested in them?

This is a powerful quote and it’s a great way to start living your life, too.

I personally try to go outside on a regular basis, or just do things I’ve never done before.

Because let’s face it, it’ll be hard to write something interesting to read, if you don’t have anything interesting to say. And when you start doing more in your life, even if it’s not that much, you’ll find your mindset towards writing will completely change as well.

It’s a great way to prevent burnout, too.

Always Have Your Net Ready

The unfortunate truth about ideas is that they leave you faster than they come, so always have a way to jot them down so you never forget them.

I usually have my phone on me and have a running Google Doc that I put all my ideas into.

Just make sure you write as much about your idea down so that when you finally get to it, it actually makes sense. A title isn’t enough. I used to do that before, and it usually ends up being a ton of wasted energy.

Let it Percolate

I usually let my ideas percolate overnight.

Now here’s what I mean:

I usually pick out the idea I’m going to write about, jot down any notes I made for myself about it, come up with any headings that may help me write it down, read it over a bunch of times, and then go read a book before I go to bed.

  • This one step alone is usually what helps me the most I find, since I always do my best writing first thing in the morning.

Pen to Paper, Fingers to Keyboard

Usually, when I wake up in the morning, I’m ready to start writing.

I usually start my morning off with a handful of almonds, a glass of water, and then a cup of coffee.

Now, sometimes my routine is interrupted with having to run to the washroom, as I suffer from IBS. But that’s also why I bring my phone with me, because if inspiration sparks, I’ll just type on my phone so I don’t forget or let any ideas getaway.

  • Also note, it’s also great to have an inspo file. Which is like a swipe file, but I never swipe. I always study good writing so I can emulate it. And I usually read some great writing I enjoy reading myself if I’m truly stuck to get going.

And that’s it!

It really can be that simple.

It’s actually how I write most emails that make my clients thousands of dollars…

And even write social posts with very minimal effort.

… some of which are about 500ish words, and take me less than ten minutes to write them.

Give it a try…

I know you’ll be happy with the results.

Enjoy!
