Dear All:

I hope you and your family are healthy and safe, and this note finds you in good spirits. I wanted to provide Mid-Year 2021 updates of what our volunteers have been working on, despite the malediction that is the pandemic.

The 5-2035 Movement Now Registered as a Foundation in Mauritius

On behalf of our 5-2035 Movement, with close to 500 adherents in 15 countries and territories, Mauritians and friends of Mauritius all, I wish to announce the happy news that besides already being a 501(c)(3) in the USA as a not-for-profit, as of last week, we are now?a?bona fide?registered foundation in Mauritius as the "Global Community Health Foundation".

What does this mean? Plenty of important things.

This designation allows us to operate within the United States Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) framework, as well as mandates us to conduct transparent accounting practices that comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) required by the European Union and close to 100 other countries worldwide.

Being a duly registered Foundation in Mauritius means that this will expedite our ability to open a bank account in the country as well as provide the assurance to international donors, organizations, entities, and individuals that funds transferred to Mauritius for the 5-2035 Movement will be duly accounted for. This is a tremendous milestone for us.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the following individuals who diligently volunteered to process the several rounds of paperwork to be board members of the Foundation in Mauritius: Nikhil Domun (GFCH Vice President); Quentin Adam (GFCH Chief Financial Officer); Jay Luchoomun (GFCH Chief Development Officer); Bill Burke (GFCH Chief Curriculum Officer); Guru Bhoojhawon (Country Director USA); Caroline Tandrayen (GFCH Chief Compliance Officer); Nileema Jeetah (GFCH General Counsel); Vince Oxenham (GFCH Chief People Officer); Ganesha Singaravelloo (GFCH Chief Operating Officer); Salman Kadir (GFCH Senior Project Manager). A special thanks to Salman for the keeping all of us on task.

We would not be a Foundation in Mauritius today without the?pro bono?help of?CKLB Financial Management Services Ltd . We are extremely grateful to Christian Li and his team for having provided us the highest level of attention and professionalism through this elaborate process.??

Expanding the Scope of CIELAD Impact Study to IORC

\A group of us are now in discussion to explore how we can collaborate with the?Community Health Development (CHD) Group ?of Mangalore, India,?to expand the scope of CIELAD (Community Interventions to Encourage Leagues Against Diabetes Impact Study ) as a multi-country, multi-center Impact Study to include not only Mauritius, but also India and Bangladesh with possible additional Indian Ocean Rim Countries (IORC) including Tanzania, Madagascar, Pakistan, and South Africa. We are currently discussing the advantages of why a multi-country trial would be more informative and easier to finance and conduct.

Stay tuned on this front and/or reach out to me if you have any input.

5-2035 Activities Planned for 2nd Half of the Year 2021 - We Need Your Help!

1. Writing a?5-2035 Vision?policy paper.?To be?targeted?to?a peer-reviewed scientific journal to articulate how the?5-2035 Vision ?(also see figure below) of empowered community health around the Community Health Officer could be frugally transformative to health care delivery?and health?in IORC;

2. Exploring enlarging the scope of CIELAD to IORC as above;

3. Establishing bank accounts in Mauritius and USA;

4. Fundraising;

5. Employing country managers on contract to advance our 12?Dan 12?goal (12,000 adherents in 12 months from launch), and?

6. Continued advocacy with the government of Mauritius to obtain a letter of support to facilitate conduct of CIELAD.?

??In summary, we will be hard at work for the rest of the year, despite the heartbreaking challenges that the pandemic with its new variants is posing to us in our private and professional lives as well as to humanity.

Please reach out to me [[email protected] ] if you can be of help in any one of our activities above. We always love to hear your feedback in how you think we are doing, and how we can do better.

Onward and Upward!?

Warmly,

Shivraj | Founding President | The 5-2035 Movement | [email protected]
