The 4Ps defining every walk of life: Passion, Patience, Persistence and one of the most understated – dealing with the ‘Present’

The 4Ps defining every walk of life: Passion, Patience, Persistence and one of the most understated – dealing with the ‘Present’

Have you ever been perplexed about why does one do anything in life? What drives one’s actions? What is the first thought that strikes your mind when you think of:

-      Steve Jobs,

-      Rajnikanth,

-      Mary Kom or

-      MS Dhoni

The answer is evident, their passion, the feeling of intense enthusiasm and love for their respective fields of interest.

Everyone listed above is a visionary who has tasted success despite facing multiple hurdles. So, what could have kept them going? Although at the core, passion laid the foundation of their success stories, they wouldn’t have been half as successful if it were not for their patience and persistence.

Now, if we take a closer look at our lives, would anything be different at all? No.

But, has everyone been able to overcome their hurdles and taste success? No.

Life is not always fair. Just like a few buds don’t bloom into flowers, a few of us despite being passionate, patient and persistent tend to wither off and lose track. This is because in most instances, we do not deal with the present. We either focus on the past or the future, despite knowing sub-consciously that the past cannot be changed and that future is dependent on our actions in the present.

These pillars helped me during my initial days at work. Despite being new to the manufacturing sector and with additional responsibility of dealing with a challenging client, I managed to sail through successfully and garner appreciation despite initial hiccups.

Most often, varied cultures are at the core of any form of conflict in any team/organization. The key is to keep calm, remind oneself of the 4Ps and make appropriate decisions to resolve conflicts, thereby inching towards our respective goals.

Essentially, take it one day at a time without losing focus of the larger picture.

What’s your take on this?
