The future of more than 4 million Assam residents hangs in the balance. That's because they failed to make it to the final draft list of the National Register of Citizens (considered proof of Assamese identity), which incorporates names of 28.9 million people. Registrar General and Census Commissioner Sailesh appealed people whose names have been left out not to panic, and said the process of making claims will begin on August 30 and continue till September 28. Meanwhile, the Centre has rushed 22,000 paramilitary personnel to brace for outbreaks of violence.
India is likely to have a regulator for e-commerce, Mint reports quoting the draft of a policy document. The idea is to protect e-shoppers, end legal fragmentation on key issues that impact the sector and effectively respond to the World Trade Organization’s push for global e-commerce rules. The draft policy also calls on e-tailers and social media firms to store customer data locally so that the government can have access from a national security standpoint. But a two-year window will be available before localisation rules become mandatory.
Antigua may soon revoke Mehul Choksi's citizenship. Quoting sources it won’t name, CNBC-TV18 reports that the Caribbean nation wants India to build a strong case against the fugitive diamantaire, and is awaiting an extradition request from the CBI and Enforcement Directorate. Earlier, the Indian High Commissioner in Georgetown requested local authorities to prevent Choksi's movement by land, air or sea. Choksi, wanted in the $2 billion PNB fraud, obtained an Antiguan passport in November 2017, three months before the scam surfaced.
Healthcare startup Cure.fit has raised $120 million in Series C funding from existing backers IDG Ventures, Accel, Kalaari Capital and two other VC funds. Co-founded by Myntra founder Mukesh Bansal, Cure.fit will use the money to strengthen its technology platform, expand footprint and build its brand. VCCircle reports this is the second-largest Series C round for any Indian company, only behind the $200 million bagged by InMobi from SoftBank in 2011. Through its four verticals, Cure.fit offers equipment-less workout, yoga and meditation, healthy meals and doctor consultations.
Indian CEOs are more bullish on the global economy than their country's. A KPMG survey of over 125 Indian CEOs shows nearly nine in 10 have confidence in the global economy, with emerging markets such as South America becoming more trusted destinations than protectionism-ridden developed countries. However, only 69% Indian CEOs are optimistic about the growth of the Indian economy even though they are hopeful about the short- and mid-term prospects of their sectors. According to IHS Markit's June survey, just 20% of Indian businesses expect growth in output over the next 12 months, much lower than the global and BRIC's averages.

6 年These people are not from mars, the are citizens of British India displace in 1947, 1971 and as a friend said third generation can't be aliens, if their forefather's are in electoral list of 1972 , 1977, 1980's even the names are there in 1990's list too but now their children's names are absent from lists... Simple example if father and mother is citizens since 1971 to 1990's how come the children are aliens... Who playing dirty game, regional political parties not possible to lose voter bank but definitely central party , who knows their presence will make difference...
