You have an amazing tool on your desktop. Chances are you're only using about 30% of it's capability. I'm talking about PowerPoint and although now synonymous with boring-audiences-to-death, it really needn't be.
Most presenters present a 2 dimensional slide to their audience. They put some text and maybe an image on the slide and think "that'll do - they'll get that" But mostly audiences have seen all this before. Result? They tune out and at best take a mental snapshot of your slide and mentally move on to something else.
So how do you keep audiences mentally engaged while you tell your story? Firstly you add a third dimension to your slides by adding depth and placing images on top of one another (layering) This will then allow you to introduce these images over the fourth dimension: Time. When you create presentations like this each slide becomes a mini- presentation - with a start, middle and end. This segmentation of your story allows you to break your message down into bite-sized chunks and makes it easier for the audience to digest. Result. An engaged inspired audience. Easy.
