The Internet is the world's largest OTC dispenser.
Good recommendations are drowned out in the cacophony of the Internet. I have done some picking from my weekly browsing. Respectful of intellectual property rights, I dispense these in the spirit of "???????? ??????."
The section has been enlarged in scope from a passive list to a more active commentary. The new title is more in keeping with the ethos of {P}rescription than the earlier one: "Second helpings."
Slow down ... savour the moment, find joy
Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy
(Paul Simon, 59th Street Bridge Song. 1966)
???????????????? || "Savoring is the deliberate act of soaking in a wonderful experience and extending the joy it offers." || ??Savoring: the happiness hack you didn’t know?you needed
??
???? {?}?????????????????????? || The YOLO spirit is in the air. A lot of us are applying the brakes on the frantic speed of our lives. A movement is afoot and growing. Cal Newport, the guru of deep work and slow productivity, is at the head of a lifestyle that is urging us to do more by doing less, more intently.
How to make men wear hearing aids - make them look like ear buds
???????????????? || “The amount of energy you put into the facade that you can hear is just exhausting.”... “Hearing loss is arguably the single largest risk factor for cognitive decline and dementia.” || ?? The secret to getting men to wear hearing aids
??
???? {?}?????????????????????? || I've been near totally deaf for almost two decades. It was a constant struggle, but ultimately there was no way I could function in my work. Conversations and interactions with me often sounded like improv comedy. People thought I was arrogant or stupid, or worse, both.
The pair I have now are amazing pieces of technology. The quality they give is superb. They can be finely tuned using blue tooth and mobile phone apps. I can set parameters for different acoustic situations and maintain a library of options.
Most of all, I can listen to music again. Older models were not compatible with headphones. The in-ear phones were out of the question because the canal was already occupied by the hearing aid. Over-the-ear phones did not provide a fit that reproduced good sound. No more. My Spotify list gets beamed directly to the earphones through bluetooth, with crystal clear sounds.
Hearing aids aren't as embarrassing to wear as before. Everyone is walking around with ear buds sticking out of their ears.
Dr AI will see you now
???????????????? || "AI has the potential to serve as the ultimate assistant to physicians, enhancing their capabilities without replacing them." ... "The best of both worlds is that AI complements traditional medicine and does not replace it." || ?? AI In health care: It's not binary
??
The case against
The case for
? ???? {?}?????????????????????? || The genie has been out of the bottle for some years now and will never go back. Healthcare is traditionally resistant to innovation and disruption. AI threatens the status quo and business-as-usual of healthcare delivery like no other technology has done in years past.
