There once lived a community that enforced unspoken rules upon women of a particular age – get married, have children and settle down. This was believed to be the purpose of a female, all these years. However, we started noticing the transformation in the way women perceived their life and their choices.
An increasing number of women in recent times have preferred to take a different route. Increasingly, so many women opt to be single and childless rather than getting into a nuptial and concentrating on their careers at best. According to research carried out by Morgan Stanely, almost 45% of women aged 25 to 44 years will remain single and with no children by the year 2030. This is quite a trend change from previous decades where there was almost an obligatory marriage and children by a certain age.
Women are now not only striving towards a better career but also working towards carving out an independent life for themselves. Gone are the days when they were only considered as caregivers and homemakers. Now they are striving in their careers, at times being the breadwinners of their families. This feeling of independence gives room for self-growth even before contemplating marriage or children for some. On the one hand, such developments enable women to follow their hobbies and choose their way of life without restrictions on the other hand, some of them still have to deal with social auch

Moreover, even women who choose not to marry or have children still encounter some degree of discrimination at the workplace whether in the form of a gender pay gap or prejudice as to how committed they are towards their job. Quite several women are however opting to postpone or completely skip marriage in this age, with some going on to acquire a divorce but refusing to get married again. As this trend moves on, the alarm for people to better their ways increases. Thus, both the governments and private companies are urged to relieve those policies - improve children’s care, longer parental leave, work-life balance, and others that cater to women during all periods of their lives. As more and more women make lifestyle changes in the face of societal norms, there is more pressure to accept that being a woman does not equate to the ability to be a wife or a mother and there is more to it.
As for the future, it promises more support systems and communities to women who opt not to marry, which will provide them with companionship and care when they get older. Educational campaigns are also proving to be effective in fighting stereotypes by promoting a positive image of women and their current practices.
Approaching the year 2030, women are changing what it is to be successful and fulfilled. Over the years if one chooses marriage, motherhood, or neither, she is claiming her authority and transforming the world in the process. This emerging pattern of behaviour highlights and supports the self – determination of females as a group and society must continue to accompany and progress with them.
