42 Years Of Serving Florida

This year marks our 42nd anniversary of serving Florida’s commercial and residential aggregate trucking needs. That’s something I’m really proud of, and as we approach Thanksgiving and the holiday season, I wanted to reflect on our beginnings, where we are today, and why I’m so thankful for our company and our customers.

One Man, One Truck

T. Disney Trucking all began in 1980 with one owner-operator, my incredible dad, Todd Disney. Starting out with a used International Paystar dump truck, he drove all day, worked on the truck all night, and did his own bookkeeping on the weekends. A true one-man show. It’s his drive (pardon the pun) and dedication that’s led this company to nearly 43 years of success. He did everything.

I can remember riding along with him, even as a little kid. I had a booster seat in that big old truck (don’t tell OSHA!), and I spent countless hours learning about the business. I visited tons of job sites and knew, even from that young age, that my dad was made for trucking.

A Long, Winding Journey

Turns out, my dad was dreaming about more trucks, too, but it isn’t that simple to just grow a trucking company. Over the last four decades, the growth has been organic, never fed by advertising or outside investors. No, we only got a truck when he could, being careful to watch the budget and taking small steps forward.

To this day, we’ve never spent a penny on advertising. Every job that T. Disney Trucking has ever taken on was through word-of-mouth referrals and repeat business. That’s something not too many others can say. It’s a humbling thought that so many people have respected my father and his work over the past 42 years.

Staying Ahead of the Pack

It’s my dad’s work ethic and integrity that got this company off the ground, but it’s our experience that’s kept us around. If there’s one thing that sets us apart from all the other haulers, it’s this: we understand the goals and needs of the owner-operator. That’s my family’s story. We lived it and know exactly how and why owner-operators work—not because they’ve told us, but because we’ve done it.

By offering these drivers steady, reliable jobs in a safe, trustworthy environment, they want to keep working with us. And we’re happy to keep working with them. I’m so proud to partner with folks who are working hard to make a difference.

There’s More to the Story

It’s not just the owner-operators who drive with us that make our company so special. We’ve been skilled (or lucky!) enough to have built a network of aggregate suppliers and quarries that we can rely on for our materials. We can’t haul if there’s nothing to haul, and those partners are a huge factor in our success.

The third factor in our longevity is the customer; people like you who have a need and trust us to fulfill your orders. We’ll continue to keep doing that on time and for a fair cost, as long as you keep hiring us.

Feeling Thankful

This Thanksgiving, we are grateful to our community for allowing us to serve them for 42 years. It’s overwhelming to know that through the decades, we’ve been the ones you trust with your most important projects. I’m personally thankful for the role I serve in this company and this community, and I look forward to many more years of building trust. We are hopeful that this journey, started by one man with one truck in 1980, is just the beginning and that future Disney generations will continue his legacy.
