When Maruti Udyog Limited was established in 1981, in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation, the Indian automobile market was dominated by bulky, outdated models that were neither affordable nor efficient. The introduction of the Maruti 800 in December 1983 marked the beginning of a new era. Its compact size, fuel efficiency, and affordability made it an instant hit, and it quickly became a household name across India.
