The world is glitching – and corporate is still asking for your Q1 goals.
?? Today’s Headlines (that shouldn’t be real but are):
? Billionaires race to build bunkers – because investing in society is too risky.
? Companies cut staff – for efficiency – then post a “We’re Hiring!” TikTok.
? Politicians debate if food and shelter are human rights – over a catered lunch.
? Gas prices break records – your cost-of-living raise is $0.34.
? CEOs call you family – but families don’t hand out WARN notices before brunch.
Welcome to late-stage capitalism, bestie. We’re thriving.
?? Corporate WTF? (What The Fiasco?!) ??
?? The “We Value You” Layoff Livestream
A tech company announced layoffs – via Zoom – and forgot to turn off comments.
Employees reacted in real-time.
The PR team is still recovering.
HR Note: The word “values” may require a definition update.
?? Brain Break: Economic Brainteaser
The CEO just announced record profits but says layoffs are necessary.
What happens next?
(A) The stock price jumps.
(B) Employees make memes.
(C) Execs get bonuses.
(D) All of the above – plus a LinkedIn post about “resilience.”
?? Answer below – but it’s D. Always D.
?? Vibes Check: Work, But Make It Absurd
A recent post declared:
“Nobody wants to work anymore.”
This is interesting, because:
? People are working multiple jobs to survive – but sure, “nobody wants to work.”
? Half the workforce is burned out – but please, tell us more about grit.
? Job seekers are stuck in a Hunger Games–style gauntlet for one role – only to get ghosted after the third panel interview.
? RTO policies demand we commute 90 minutes – to join Zoom calls from a cubicle.
So… maybe it’s not that people don’t want to work.
Maybe they don’t want to suffer – for crumbs.
Wild thought!
?? So, Where’s the Fix?
Corporate wants productivity hacks.
Workers want rent money.
Politicians want votes.
And we’re all stuck asking:
What if we built systems that actually worked – for people?
I don’t have the answers.
But I’ve got a lot of questions.
And a permanent eye twitch.
Drop your thoughts, rage, or favorite “We’re a family” horror story in the comments.
Or just leave a ?? if you’re over it.
?? Answer Key:
?? Brainteaser: D. Always D.
Because nothing says “We’re all in this together” – like executives cashing their bonuses while HR is left drafting layoff FAQs.
?? Until next time – stay caffeinated, keep your eye-rolls subtle, and remember:
The system isn’t broken. It’s working exactly as designed.
And that’s the problem.

2 周Spot on Deb. Great newsletter. Eye twitch? Oh yea whenever I hear the “no one wants to work” dribble. Eye rolls and giggles ensue when I hear “new ways of working”. Sounds like something that belongs on a billboard.
This one and your bullets really got me: “Nobody wants to work anymore.” The job market is flooded right now with qualified people who are applying for 200+ jobs and not getting even a rejection letter. The system is broken but agree, it's the system we built. So "select all" recruiters and just send a damn email.
