40 Years Ago today - the Class of 1980, USNA began to understand: "Who knows when thou mayest be tested? So live that thou bearest the strain!"

Returning to the 'scene of the commitment' - 40 Years ago today - this morning I stood in the same position on Tecumseh Court, US Naval Academy - where the Class of 1980 took the Oath of Office as Midshipman, United States Navy.

Last week, on 30 June 2016, a number of members of the Class of 1980 were present at Induction Day - to begin to provide 20 + 20 vision for the Class of 2020.

A couple parents of new Midshipmen asked me if I had any advice. I just said: the Class of 1980 succeeded at USNA, and in life, by living the 2nd stanza of the 5th Law of the Navy:

"Who knows when thou mayest be tested? So live that thou bearest the strain!"

Thank You Superintendent "Slapshot" Carter [USNA '80 +1] for recognizing the Class of 1980 during the Induction Day Ceremony for the Class of 2020!

Cheers to my 33rd Herd mates- and the Great Class of 1980 - who are 1st Class in so many ways!
