40 Wisdom Quotes from My 40 Years

40 Wisdom Quotes from My 40 Years

I turned 40 a few days ago —A landmark birthday, perhaps because you are halfway through life…that’s if you live till 80!

It’s been a journey with no regrets, but only gratitude… I feel content and hopeful for the years ahead.

I decided to pen down the little wisdom I’ve gained in a short anthology of quotes…

Hope the list helps you too, and feel free to add to it in the comment box below.

  1. Don’t be shy, the world doesn’t understand silence. They understand language, expression and action!
  2. Don’t waste time and talent, you have plenty to share and learn in your brief time on earth.
  3. Don’t shirk responsibility, it’s the only thing that helps you grow. It gives your life meaning and purpose.
  4. Dive into adventure, it tests your grit and fortitude… It shows you a side of you you never knew existed.
  5. Stay calm, and then stay calm some more. The only way to deal with life situations is by being still when the world wants you to react!
  6. Hold the hands of people you love…they need to know you care!
  7. Venture out when your health and wealth is intact, because that’s the time when you can take maximum risk.
  8. Eat right, exercise, drink water, and snooze — all are needed in moderation to help you get through life!
  9. Watch romantic films…they give you hope…they make you believe in love.
  10. Hold on to your dreams, they will come true — if not today, tomorrow, if not this year, then the next.
  11. Earn, save, spend, repeat.
  12. Read everyday, and as much as you can. It opens up worlds you may never have access to… Reading adds knowledge and imagination to your life.
  13. Listen to your parents…sometimes they know what they’re saying.
  14. Be receptive to signs…they come from everywhere, and all over.
  15. Keep awake at night, and wait for fairies…sometimes, they do come!
  16. Respect everyone — old, young, poor, rich, literate, illiterate…everyone has something to teach you… Everyone is divinity incarnate!
  17. Don’t forget your manners… People always remember how you made them feel.
  18. Volunteer — there is no greater satisfaction than working for something that has no material reward.
  19. Have a plan… Life gets boring if you wait for it to happen. It’s up to you to make life happen.
  20. Think before you speak. Your words determine your interactions, and stay on in minds and hearts longer than you think.
  21. Think before you decide on a course of action… But once you do, immerse yourself completely in the act.
  22. Don’t fear your heart being broken… It won’t kill you, it’ll only make you stronger. Denying yourself love is the biggest death of the spirit.

23. Be honest, because nothing pays like honesty… The more honest you are, the less complicated your life is.

24. Trust, even though your trust may be broken time and again...Because trust is a muscle — the more you use it, the stronger it gets.

25. Surrender, like your life depends on it. You only fly when you let go of the ground beneath and still believe you will be fine.

26. Don’t obsess about money... It comes and goes, and is only a tool to be used. Money can never be a goal in itself.

27. Value your freedom. Whenever you have to make a choice, choose your freedom…because everything else can be sought and bought.

28. Appreciate the good. It’s easy to see the negative side of something and complain, but it’s easier still to see the positive and lift your spirits.

29. Stay positive. The world will bombard you with negativity and darkness from all directions. It’s up to you to light your inner flame and look at it for brightness.

30. Believe in miracles…because they happen all the time, and in the most unlikely places!

31. Spend time with God. Yes, meditate, talk and pray often to the higher force taking care of us… The deeper your connect to a higher reality, the more peaceful will your mind, heart and soul be!

32. Be alone...often. Some of the greatest insights on your life and problems will come from moments of solitude. So don’t fill your days with to-do lists, sometimes leave them blank so you can chart a new path.

33. Cherish what you have. You are more privileged than you think. It’s easy to look around and see what you don’t have, especially with consumerism in our faces… But look around you first and count your blessings, it will keep you grounded and grateful each day!

34. Give without holding back. The more we give, the faster we will get replenished… What you do always comes back to you, so don’t hesitate to give what you have — love, money, time, food, medicine, shelter, compassion!

35. Forgive yourself and others easily. Holding on to anger or grudges only eats you from the inside.

36. Say sorry when you need to. It’s a word that shows humility — Humility that every human can err, and that every human can seek forgiveness too.

37. Say ‘thank you’ more than you say anything else. It shows instant gratitude and makes you more appreciative of life on a daily basis.

38. Express yourself in the way you like best. You are one form of expression of Divinity, and your life is a celebration of that… So find and hone your gifted medium of expression.

39. Love yourself before you can love another. Because an empty cup serves no one! Fill your heart with love for yourself first, and then when it begins to overflow, pour that love out for others!

40. Believe in yourself…because no one else knows what you’re capable of!
