4 Women Engineers Share Their Career Paths, Experiences, and Tips In Engineering

Every year on June 23rd, we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day. This day is meant to encourage growth of women within the engineering sector and celebrate the outstanding achievements of women engineers throughout the world.

Brooke Howard, Jacey Brady, Amy Wildey and Rayva Ranade are all PacSci EMC Employees who have embarked on a career in Engineering. They have decided to share their experiences within the field and even provided a few tips for future women engineers.

Brooke is a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at PacSci EMC.

Brooke graduated from Arizona State University in May 2022, and is really looking forward to beginning her career as an engineer. Having the positive influence of other women in STEM fields inspired her to pursue engineering and has been incredibly beneficial for her throughout her education. She hopes that as she advances in her career, she will have the opportunity to have the same positive impact on the next generation of engineers and help to make STEM fields more inclusive!

Jacey is an EHS Engineer at PacSci EMC.

Upon completion of her AAS, Jacey's Father-In-Law introduced her to the Safety and Emergency Management industry when she was 20 years old. Fascinated by the business, she started her journey at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to complete her Bachelors in Technical Management majoring in Occupational Safety & Health.

Jacey's career began at Price Industries Inc., where she was hired as an Intern and later promoted to Safety Coordinator. The lesson she learned at Price Industries was building relationships and establishing trust between yourself and those on the floor is vital to successful Safety culture.

She later became a Field Safety Manager for the Southwest Region for OnTrac. Working for this organization required her to learn a variety of Safety skills/tasks. Becoming familiar with regulatory standards, developing policies, and tracking/trending workplace injuries were the most valuable skills she learned at OnTrac.

This past Spring, Jacey graduated at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with her Bachelors and accepted a EHS Engineer position here at PacSci EMC.

Jacey's Tips to Women In Engineering:

  • Don't give up. Go back to the drawing board and try again.
  • Never underestimate yourself.
  • Speak Up. If you don't ask for what you want, you won't get it.
  • Never Stop Learning - take advantage of your knowledgeable peers and engage in conversations.
  • Having an open-mind, willingness to work hard, and a smile, will get you a long way to success.

Rayva is a Test Engineer Intern at PacSci EMC.

Rayva has always known that she wanted a career in a STEM field since she was in middle school and found herself interested in math and science. She became an engineer because she loves problem-solving and because she wanted to better understand how the world around us works the way it does. Rayva loves projects that involve lots of hands-on work, and she chose to be a mechanical engineer.

As a recent graduate, she has just started her career, and looks forward to interacting with and getting advice from women engineers who have come before her. She feels fortunate to be part of the growing presence of women in engineering, and hopes to be a role model who inspires younger girls to pursue engineering as well!
