4 ways to let go and still be in control of your business in 2017

The issue with being your own boss is that you can’t tear yourself into a million parts and tend to every aspect of your business all at once. You want to because it’s your ‘baby’ and it’s better for you to keep your finger on the pulse and be a part of its growth, but you have an issue in letting go.

It’s a simple truth that most small business owners really struggle to ‘let go’ and let a process unfold and evolve. But, you don’t have to let go, only rather master the art of project managing your time and resources.

Things to consider to help you loosen your grip:

1. Get your ADMIN ship in order

What are you using right now to keep track of meetings, orders and emails? What tech tools are you using to make your job easier?

If you are bogged down by meetings and endless things to remember find a tool that works for you! I recently discovered ONE NOTE (HOW TO VIDEO), that was kind of part of my Microsoft windows 10 package anyway, it is a useful platform that can assist you on the fly in jotting down meeting notes and creating actionable items that log directly into your Outlooks tasks.

Of course, it has a variety of functions that are quite possibly under-utilized and worth looking into.

‘One-note is basically your go-to note-taking app, your digital notebook, and could even be your best friend. All your notes are organized into beautifully colored tabs so you’re always organized”.

 2. Outsource almost everything

Thanks to modern tech, there is very little need any more to have static offices and staff. Tasks can be performed for you from around the country or even the world. If you have a solid business process mapped out, then managing your team’s outputs need not be that difficult. In saying this, it’s an idea to recommend a good CRM or workflow software system that allows you to track activity and project progress.

3. Get your supplier lists sorted

Depending on your product or services this will differ substantially. Make sure you have back up suppliers. It’s important to make sure you have a supplier process sorted so that when the work flows in you are able to deliver on time at the best pricing.

 4. Plan out your Marketing Strategy

For SME’s most of these functions are outsourced. Make sure that you find the right Marketing Consultancy to suit your needs and budget. Not many of us have the time to do it all by ourselves. However, it is important that you read up and have a keen understanding of what is required to get your business marketed. Be aware that there is no short cut to modern day marketing, and be aware of agencies that promise you too much too soon.

The same “old fashioned” methods of building on a brand still apply, and even in this digitally wild world, what you put into the machine still takes time to work its way through the system to produce results. The key here when investing in marketing is consistency, quality and of course a good strategy.
