4 WAYS I INTENTIONALLY KEEP A POSITIVE MINDSET while living in a world filled with negativity and politics:

1) I instantly unfollow anyone on social media who posts, shares, or makes negative comments or who complains about anything or anyone.

However, I don't have a habit of scrolling social media. With tens of thousands of "connnections," "friends," etc., I'm sure I'm still following many negative complainers who have "connected" with or "friended" me in the past. However, I'm not really following them. But, if their negativity shows up on my feed, I'll quickly take action and unfollow.

Following or not following someone on social media has nothing to do with how I feel about them as a person. There are people I love who I don't follow. It has everything to do with what I allow into my mind.

Just because someone has it in their head doesn't mean I want it in mine. No one decides that but me.

To maintain and develop a positive mindset, I read leadership books every day. Positive thoughts lead to positive results.

That's the life I want. That's the life I have.

"Whether people change their mindset in order to further their career, heal from a loss, help their children thrive, lose weight, or control their anger, change needs to be maintained. It’s amazing—once a problem improves, people often stop doing what caused it to improve. Once you feel better, you stop taking your medicine." ~ Carol S. Dweck

I'm not on social media to be social or make friends. I do that in real life with real people.

I'm simply here to add value to those who value positive, character-based content. If someone doesn't follow me, it has zero impact on my life. I'll be okay. I spend less than 5 minutes a day randomly scrolling as many seem to do frequently and endlessly for no meaningful reason at all beyond entertaining themselves.

2) I don't pay attention to the cable news because there is very little real news available.

To keep up with current events, I prefer to selectively read the news, instead of watching the news.

When I was a kid, it seemed the news informed of us what had gone on or what was going on in the world. No opinions. Today, the people telling the news seem to be attempting to tell me what I should think and how I should feel about what's going on in the world. I'm capable of forming my own opinion without their influence.

The news is filled with individuals who are paid to guess why things are happening and guess what will happen next. Most often, they don't have a clue, get it wrong, and are paid to come back the next day and guess some more. Why? Because the point is to influence how we think, not to necessarily get it right or wrong.

3) I develop and form my own thoughts that are in alignment with natural laws and principles, not the opinions of others.

Most of what's going on in the world will have zero impact on my day. I focus on creating the life I want amid the chaos of everyone else's life and the space I truly live in.

My life is completely positive. It was positive with the last president. It will be positive with this president. And, it will be positive with the next president. My life is not based on who the president is or isn't, may or may not be next week or next year.

My life is based on what I want it to be. Sure, the circumstances may change when presidents change. But circumstances have been changing since the beginning of time and will continue to change until the end of time.

Natural laws and principles will never change.

4) I only associate with positive people, not sometime. All the time!

There is no room for negative people in my life. I don't care if they are family or not. I'm attracted to positive people. I don't care what color they are, how old they are, where they were born, what their religion is or isn't, if they are male or female. I only care if they are positive people who value strong character and respect all people and model it consistently in their lives.

There have always been positive and negative people on the earth at the same time, and there always will be.

I choose everyday to be one of the positive people and choose to avoid the negative people.

The result: I live a positive life with my positive wife!
