Spend most of your time with the top employees. As a manager, you only have a finite amount of time, and focusing on the people who are driving the business forward is the only way to succeed.

Tailor the way you treat people. Deciding that everyone should get equal treatment ignores the fact that everyone wants somewhat different treatment; find out how people want to be treated and do that.

Keep your eye on strengths and not on weaknesses. The most important thing that anyone can contribute is what they’re good at, so leaning into that rather than worrying about weaknesses is the best idea.
