4 Ways to Conquer Your Subconscious and Unlock Your Potential

We exist as three-dimensional beings: body, mind, and spirit. Even some of our expressions such as “I am beside of myself” allude to our three components. Many things we say about our “selves” actually refer to our mind and spirit. If any of these three parts of us are out of line, it affects the other ones. Bringing our subconscious mind (the part of our minds we are not fully aware of but influences our actions and feelings) in harmony with body and spirit can help better our daily lives and unlock the potential we all have. Here are four ways to begin the journey:

1. Meditation

For thousands of years, Eastern mystics have known the benefits of meditation, but it wasn’t until 1839, at the World Parliament of Religion, that it reached the United States. All meditation requires is a few minutes of sitting quietly and just allowing ourselves to be. We breathe deeply and are keenly aware of each breath. All our thoughts can float like cloud formations as we let go of stress and act as silent observers. In these quiet moments, we can listen to our inner selves and find out our most earnest desires.

2. Visualization

Visualization is a mental tool that is similar to meditation, only we purposely bring creative thoughts to our minds to help manifest what we want. We can visualize alone or while listening to the voice and suggestions of a spiritual coach, which is often called guided meditation. When we visualize how we’d like our lives or selves to be, we are using our subconscious to influence situations in the direction we’d like. It has been said that the first step to creating something is the ability to see it in our minds. Visualizing can help make our dreams come true and our lives successful.
