An advice from our Lord Jesus Christ caught my attention recently hence, the title of today's article.
Jesus, while admonishing his disciples on send-off night in Matthew 10:16, said "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."
I was shocked to say the least, that Jesus made that statement.
Anyway, our focus is on the adjective that he used to qualify the Serpent (Snake).
The word - Wise in Greek implies being thoughtful, sagacious, discreet. Other words related to Wise include; to acquire practical skill and acumen, and also intelligence.
So I thought to myself, if Christ can qualify the Serpent with such an adjective, that means there are some things we can learn from it.
Some people have a negative perception whenever snakes are mentioned.
I think it may be as a result of Eve's encounter in the garden of Eden, other dangerous stories about snake attacks, personal encounters or the fear of their deadly nature.
That led me to study a bit about snakes and here are some useful lessons I found.
1. Adaptability:
Snakes are masters at adaptability and camouflage. They know how to adapt to various environments and blend into any surrounding that they find themselves.
Adaptability and flexibility is a key requirement for every Entrepreneur that wants to grow.
2. Strategic planning:
When it comes to hunting prey, the snake is very strategic. It monitors its prey and positions itself strategically to strike with precision.

Strategic planning is needed if you want to achieve your corporate goals.
3. Caution:
The snake is very alert and conscious of its environment. It is very sensitive to the movement of predators and danger.
As a budding Entrepreneur, you need to measure the amount and level of risk that you take on so as not to run your business to the ground. One bad decision can jeopardize the progress of the company.
4. Persistency:
The snake periodically sheds its skin to enable it to persistently stay in the game.
As an entrepreneur you will encounter tough and challenging situations. You will therefore need to "shed your business' skin" every now and then by effecting new policies that can withstand changing times in order to be persistent in the pursuit of your business goals.
One interesting thing I discovered while reading about snakes is that some people in parts of Asia believe that snake meat can cure and also prevent Arthritis, inflammation, Tuberculosis, skin diseases.
They say it also boosts immunity and it is reported to contain rich nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, and protein.

I pray that the Lord gives you the courage to make the changes needed for your elevation in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
