4 Types of Dates Your Marriage Needs - Part 2!

Thank you for all the feedback on the last ‘Intentional Leader’ newsletter!

In today’s Intentional Leader newsletter, I want to share two other types of dates: The Scheduled dates and the Spontaneous dates.

  1. Scheduled dates ?? - Very rarely do dates ‘just happen’.  Without plans, Friday night comes around and we are too tired and just want to veg out on the couch.  However, if we have a date scheduled, then we can rally to go out to eat and spend time together.  This also makes sure we have reservations and a babysitter in advance!

*** Here is a sneak peek inside the Carlson household….a few weeks ago Holly and I were not connecting!  I had been traveling for a speaking engagement, and we were both tired from our recent days apart.  She was tired from being a single parent, and I was tired from the work trip.  Who knows how long our disconnect would have gone on!  Thankfully, we had a Tuesday night date scheduled.  We actually thought about canceling it because we were both frustrated with each other!  However, we persevered and went on the date and I am grateful we did! ????We were able to apologize and get back on track!

  1. Spontaneous dates - Unfortunately this is most of our default dating mode.  We do not plan for dates, and if the stars align, then we go on a date. So now that we have added the Scheduled Dates, this can be a great way to add a spark back into the marriage. This is when you are intentional when there is great weather, kids are all busy, so you two go out to a patio and grab a beer!  ??

Next week we will talk about: Do you serve your spouse or expect your spouse to serve you?

? Stay tuned! My new book Rise and Go will be available for purchase within the next month! It's received great feedback thus far, and can't wait to share it with all of you. Here is what one business leader has said:

"At some point in their leadership journey, every leader will face tremendous obstacles and lose their footing. The good news is that getting knocked down doesn’t have to be the end of the story. In Rise and Go, there is a blueprint not only for how to respond but ultimately how to flourish in the face of adversity. Cory does a wonderful job of demonstrating his own path and then allowing the reader to mark their own journey for replenishment and action. This is a great resource to create and maintain positive momentum and allow leaders to multiply their talents."
