Reassess your priorities. Not every piece of work is urgent, and your home life may be more urgent than any of them; you may need to say no to work against the prompting of your instincts.

Look at your to-do list differently. Rather than looking at a to-do list as something that needs to be completed, look at it as a tool for triage and prioritization.

Evaluate how long tasks actually take. Workaholics tend to underestimate the time needed to do a task, leading them to taking on too many; record how long things take in order to decide how much you can actually do.

Fix your mind. For workaholics, one of the big obstacles to recovery is all the thinking they do about work even when they shouldn’t be; learn to relax and concentrate on other things, or simply let your mind go blank when it tries to think about work.
