4 tips to make performance reviews a breeze
Chances are, you just went through your performance review cycle or you're in the process right now.
As you were working through your review, did you find it challenging to recall what goals you accomplished, how many deadlines you met, and the growth that happened over the entire previous season?
To me, that's the biggest challenge with reviews.?
If you're like me, you move fast, and once one task is done, it's quickly forgotten as you forge ahead. This is a huge problem when you need to recall an entire year's worth of work later on.
Here are 4 tips you can utilize now to make your life easier and your future reviews more effective.?Steal the idea that works best with your work style:
1. Track highlights throughout the year. Keep a running list in Google Docs, Apple Notes, etc. of every big accomplishment, milestone, growth experience, and lesson learned throughout the year. While it may take a few extra minutes today, it'll save you hours during your next review.
2. Write down the questions asked in your performance review.?Chances are, you'll be asked similar questions during the next cycle. If you can review the questions even once a month and jot down some notes, your future self will thank you.
3. Make a recurring agenda item in your weekly 1:1 meeting?to share something you're proud of and something you learned or want to work on. Then, write down your answer each week so you know where to look for all of your highlights when review season rolls around.

4. Utilize a system that tracks highlights for you.?If you're not one to keep track of things as you go (I'll be honest, I'm terrible at that), Leadr Reviews offer the functionality to pull reflections from the year straight into your review responses. Under each question, you can pull in a topic from previous 1:1 meeting notes, goals, learnings or feedback. Talk about a time saver. If you're a Leadr customer, talk to your customer success manager about how to turn on Leadr Reflections in your reviews. Intrigued but not a Leadr customer? I'd love to show you how our Reflections tool works.?Request a custom walkthrough here.
Whichever option sticks out to you, choosing just 1 of these tips will simplify your life when it comes to review season. Give it a try!
Until next time.
