When healthcare employees start to disengage, disconnect, get affected by stress, and lose resilience, it's time for your organization to take action. Why? Because the longer it progresses, the harder it is to distinguish between cause and effect:
It's a vicious cycle that can consume your employee's life and work. Let DCC help you out through:
4 Tips to Keeping Your Healthcare Employees Motivated
1. When you are looking at the Culture in your Workplace, start from the top, down. You are the leader, not simply by title or station, but a leader in every aspect of your team. Are you coming in late, disheveled, whit a thousand-yard stare? Show your team you are also engaged, keep the morale up, and create an environment of support. Your energy is theirs and most often than not, your team will naturally follow suit.

2. Encourage and enact healthy habits for all. Make space for healthy habits in your team. Make steps for work-life balance. Try a sports outlet for your team, baseball, basketball, softball, maybe bowling too. Train them in the art of being mindful, short meditations that will help them be present, and in the moment. Making steps for healthy options, a gym membership, or a place to work out in the office would be great.?
3. Unplug. Put the mouse down, let go of the phone! Take off that step tracker and turn your head away from the screen. Take a little break and breathe, enjoy your lunch and savor each bite without posting about it, maybe a quick walk. If you're lucky, a nice little vacation. You're healthcare team, because of all the responsibility that goes with it, will always have trouble with stress and when they unplug, they can breathe, refocus, and recharge.
4. Implement positive coaching strategies. Give your healthcare team a safe space where they can get help when needed. Teach them the value of self-care. If they need it, coaching will help them figure out and cope day to day.
As a leader, you want to get the best out of your team. When you make sure that you can be an inspiration to them, make healthy habits, find time to unplug and make coaching a part of your strategy, you keep your people motivated and engaged. As DCC always says-- People are the Real bottom line!
