Make it clear that you want to hear what people think. Your disapproval and group dynamics are major reasons someone might not want to tell you that there’s a problem with a new project.

Make time for meetings to discuss overarching problems. Meetings generally focus on how to get a job done, not on whether it should be done or whether there are problematic group dynamics.

Focus on employees in one-on one talks. People are only going to tell you the hard truths if they feel that you’re interested in hearing what they have to say, and not that you’re trying to get something from them.
