4 Things You Can Do RIGHT NOW To Improve Your Facebook Business Page
There’s no doubt about it – using Facebook to promote business is one of the most successful digital marketing tools out there.
Unfortunately for marketers and business owners around the world, if there’s one thing that constantly changes, it’s Facebook marketing – specifically when it comes to Facebook Business Pages. With constant updates to the app, it’s hard to know where to start. That being said, there are a few things you can do to improve your Facebook Business Page immediately.
A Few Facebook Business Page Tips
If you’re like many small to medium-sized businesses, chances are you have a Facebook business page but have not had the time to manage it. You know you should have a Facebook business page, but the reality of running a business means it’s unlikely that you’ve taken the time to properly cultivate your social media channels. Perhaps you’ve set up the page years ago but now it’s been inactive from the lack of time and attention it needs to keep it updated. We’re here to help.
Here are four easy (but essential!) business Facebook page tips that you can do right now to improve your Facebook Business Page:
1. Update Your Profile Image
You’ll notice that the FB profile image is square. Too many businesses upload their company logo as their profile picture as-is, but if your logo is long and wide, it’s often too difficult to read or see clearly when scrolling through the newsfeed or landing on a page.
If you don’t already have one, invest in a square logo. Ask your designer, marketing team or Fiverr to create a new logo in a square format (you might have to restrict it to the icon only, or stack your company name so the logo is as wide as it is high).
Keep in mind that Facebook profile images are 170 x 170 pixels on desktop computers, 128 x 128 pixels on smartphones, and 36 x 36 pixels on most feature phones. Profile images are square on Facebook pages, but can be cropped into a circle for ads and posts, so test out your logo and make sure you leave enough room on the corners for a circle logo.
Business logos are best to use so avoid images unless it’s identifiable to your brand and a PNG file format usually provides a better result.
2. Add A Cover Slideshow Or A Cover Video
Visuals are so important on social media and updating your business page with a cover slideshow or video can be very powerful.
To add a cover slideshow:
If you already have a cover photo, hover over your cover image (on desktop) and click Change Cover. If you don’t have an existing cover photo, click Add a Cover in the options area about your FB Page’s timeline.
Select Create Slideshow and upload your images to create your shiny new business page slideshow.
You can have up to five images as part of your cover slideshow and these images need to be at least 400 pixels wide x 150 pixels tall.

To add a cover video:
Movement and videos can capture the attention of your audience quicker, and depending on your target audience, video consumption may be higher than static content so take the opportunity to give your audience something worthy of watching.
To add a cover video to your FB page, click Add a Cover or Change Cover in the top left of your cover photo area.
Choose Upload Photo/Video to upload a clip from your computer or select Choose from Videos to use a video that you’ve previously uploaded to your Page.
For optimal results, choose videos that are 820 x 462 pixels in dimensions and 20 to 90 seconds in length. Minimum requirements are that your video needs to be at least 820 x 312 pixels.
Remember, this is your cover video so your audience may only catch a brief sight of it, therefore, keep it interesting and powerful.
3. Set Up Your Call-To-Action Button
Often neglected in the set up of Facebook business pages, is the call-to-action button. If your Facebook audience is engaged, they’re frequently visiting your page. You want to make it easy for them to be directed towards an action they most likely want to take.
You’ll find the set-up under Create a Call-to-Action button. Work out what you want your call-to-action to be. Does your audience go on your page to find your phone number to call you? If so, select Contact You. If you’re running an online store, direct your social traffic to your webshop by choosing Shop with you.
There are many other call-to-actions that you can set on your Facebook page, browse the options and find one that best suits your business.
4. Fill In Your About Section
Think of your Facebook business page as another website that can help amplify your search results. Completing your About section not only gives your page visitors more information about your business, but it can also help SEO traffic to your Facebook business page, acting as important keywords to help your business rank better on Google.
Fill out your business’ address, business hours, contact information and take some time to write about what business you’re in and exactly what you do. Ensure that you choose the categories that apply closest to what your business does and add your mission statement. Even if no one ever looks at your About section, all this detail is excellent content for indexing on Google and can help your page rank in search results.
