4 Things I Avoid To Stay Lean 24/7.
If you’re in business, you know how easy it is to add more…. And more….
And even more, “things” to your to-do list.
Yet, you probably create more success when you avoid doing ‘wrong things’...
And do fewer things the right way.
This principle also applies to your body shape, fitness, energy and health.
Because if you avoid doing the wrong things, you get results by default.
And it’s easier to maintain your results long-term by doing fewer things right.
So, should give up drinking fresh coconuts by the beach?
… No.
Should you quit carbs, snacks and alcohol?
… No.
Should you cancel your gym membership or your favorite sport?
… Nope.
I’ll show you what I avoid.
Which keeps my weight and body-fat within the same 1-2 kg range year round.
This means my clothes size never change, and my strength, muscle and fitness improves.
It feels amazing to surf without aches and pains. Which is more fun than the gym, but working out also makes surfing easier (and more fun)
Anyway, here’s what I avoid:
1?? Doing Too Many Exercises.
Go to any gym, and you’ll may see people doing every possible bicep exercise variation.
Unless you want to be a bodybuilder or arm wrestler, you don’t need to hit the bicep from 27 different angles.
So, I avoid doing 4-8 different exercises on the same body-part…
And do 2 exercises (per body part) with focus, correct technique, volume and progression.
2?? Training Too Often.
After I left bodybuilding, I discovered you don’t need 5-6 workouts a week to maintain muscle definition.
Training too much meant I’d feel sore all the time, with a higher risk of straining a muscle. And trying to surf with a depleted body isn’t fun.
These days, the minimum-effective-dose is 3 workouts a week. This is flexible and easy to maintain even when traveling and during busy weeks.
You also won’t see me on a treadmill, cycle or rower…
Why?... Because I don’t enjoy it, at least not for a long time.
Instead, I recommend doing a sport you love. Treat that as your cardio (like surfing, tennis, soccer, swimming etc).
3?? A Limited Food List.
If you said: “Zac you’re not allowed to eat rice, potato, dark chocolate, crisps, coconut ice-cream”...
What do you think I’ll crave, and binge on eventually?

The more flexibility I allow in my diet, the less urge there is to eat unhealthy processed foods…
Because If I really want it, I can have some…
And that's the key.
It becomes your conscious decision. Not a mental imbalance pulling or pushing you to eat foods you don't need.
Treating nutrition like a ‘budget’ is what works. Not treating it like a jail-sentence with strict rules…
Making you want to pull a Andy Dufresne (Shawshank) and break out into a binge-frenzy.
4?? Listening To The Wrong Advice.
This is a tough one. Because these days, there’s 1237 opinions on everything.
Every diet has its own ‘Scientology’ like devoted cult. Who will attack you if you disagrees with their ‘ways’.
So the only people I listen to are the ones who HAVE the ‘results’ and ‘lifestyle’ I want.
For example,
If I want to achieve a strength PR…
I don’t listen to guys who ‘studied’ strength in a text book.
I listen to Sebastien Oreb, the coach of Thor (the Mountain in game of thrones).
If I want to get leaner without starving or depriving myself of tasty foods I want to eat…
I study Layne Norton (PHD in Nutritional Sciences).
If I want to live longer, without wasting time on 101 different anti-aging gimmicks…
I study Peter Attia (MD, lifespan and healthspan specialist).
If I want to optimize my sleep, without relying on artificial supplements…
I listen to Matthew Walker (Sleep Scientist).
My key point is…
You gotta Do What Works ‘For YOU’ and ignore everyone else.
And ignore any criticism from people who don’t care about your health and body.
By avoiding these 4 things…
What you see in the photo, is my reality.
And I only do the simple things I can replicate (over and over) to maintain, progress and enhance the quality of my life and long-term health.
