Dan Fleyshman, serial entrepreneur and Founder of Elevator Studios, shares his insights on how to set an example for other business leaders to follow and surpass.
Fleyshman, who was the youngest founder of a publicly traded company in history, also discusses some of the most valuable lessons he’s learned from his greatest failures.?
Be a milestone for other people?
One of the biggest impacts we can have on others is by serving as a “milestone person”, meaning that we set an example for others to follow and eventually surpass. Dan had been helping countless other charities raise money through events, but not getting to see the impact for himself, so he decided to start his own charity and use that organization as an example for other people to follow. Not only that, but we can use the Stage Theory to raise awareness for causes, rather than looking for clout for doing good deeds.?

Importance of building your community
Another way that we can exponentially increase the positive impact we have on the world is through building a community. First, we create a void by providing more value than we ask for in return. Then, we must consistently and persistently surround ourselves with the right people (those who feed you, not bleed you), as well as the right ideas. When we follow that formula, our audience will continually grow.
Shift your perspective to turn “failures” into lessons?
Circumstances in a business or industry can change overnight, and things don’t always go the way that we expect. As a business leader, it is vital to never let a tough moment ruin our perspective on the present or the future. Instead, choose to seek out the light, love, and lessons in each failure, as long as it is worth our time to do so.
Treat life like a video game
When we attach our emotions to outcomes, we almost never achieve the results we seek. By treating life as a video game and doing our best to “win” each day, we will thrive in the long run. It’s important to pay attention to the scoreboard, but never forget to take an abundant approach to winning, rather than a scarce one.?
