I joined Mars nearly 5 years ago, and I am now on my third role within the company. The greatest value for me here in Mars is the people – open, collaborative, and always supportive. A key factor is also having a manager who sees and appreciates your potential. Mars offers numerous development opportunities, which can be felt in everyday work, providing chances for growth in various areas. In my first role, I was a contractor in a team of masterdata experts HR (SAP), working closely on the implementation of the new HR system, Workday. When the opportunity arose to join the audit team as an Associate, I knew it was the right step. I had a vision to develop the area of data quality, and the company trusted me to create a global data quality framework. The project was a great success, meeting organizational needs, and was a pivotal moment in developing my leadership skills. Collaborating with directors from rewards and payroll helped me grow in stakeholder management and storytelling, building my confidence and maturity in project management. The recognition of my contributions led to a promotion to manager role, where I now lead new areas and projects, continually motivated to keep growing.

At Mars, we’re committed to transitioning to 100% renewable energy in all-site based operations by 2040 while also achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our full value chain by 2050. Since 2015, we have reduced emissions by 8%, while growing the business by 60%, demonstrating that it is possible to decouple emissions from business growth. We’ve achieved a significant milestone in this journey with the Mars Petcare Wodonga factory. It is set to become both Mars and Australia’s first large-scale steam-based manufacturing site to deploy a 100% renewable energy solution for both electricity and process steam by 2026. Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, joined Mars Petcare ANZ General Manager, Craig Sargeant, today to officially announce Mars Wodonga Solar Thermal Plant.?Developed with the Australian Government, this initiative will be the first commercial deployment of Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) technology in Australia.?It involves the installation of 410 parabolic troughs to capture solar thermal heat for generating steam to make PEDIGREE? and WHISKAS? that Australian pets love.
