4 Steps To Decision Clarity.

4 Steps To Decision Clarity.

Did you know that 22,000 people search Google every month to find out how to stop procrastinating?

Several years ago, I wrote and published a book about why people "dilly dally," "kick the can down the road," and procrastinate. The book?

. It became an International Best Seller on Amazon. If you are interested, you can get it here.

Procrastination is a self-defeating behavior pattern that can negatively impact well-being and our positive results. Why? Problems never resolve themselves. It's the natural state of "entropy". ?

Let's face it: problems?in life... and in business, left unattended, tend to grow into more intense complexity and contribute to chaos, disorder, and stress. (I have experience with this multiple times over.)

Entropy.

Like a garden, when planted; and left unattended, and left alone, it will end up just a plot of weeds.

What does "entropy" look like in your business?

Non-engagement, or entropy in your organization, reveals itself in high turnover, attrition, employee dissatisfaction, toxicity, and loss of sales revenue, which are often a product of non-action, not wrong action.

When you think about it, non-action is also a decision.?Simply choosing to put off a decision... "kick the can down the road," well... that's a decision, right? Guilty? ME TOO!

Here are four decisive action steps to help you prevent the natural state of entropy in your business.

  1. Recognize when you are procrastinating. Raise your awareness level to alert you when putting off a decision. For me, I ask myself, "Isn't that interesting?" "Why am I putting this off?" Then deal with the "why". "Successful people make decisions quickly and change them slowly". ~ Napoleon Hill. Think and Grow Rich.
  2. Continually invest resources in training. Develop a teaching budget. Training should be a line item on your profit and loss statement. Build it into your system. Training for you and for your staff. Then, model learning behaviors by seeking the advice of others. There is no such thing as "self-made." And investing in learning will show up big in the bottom line.
  3. Establish, develop, and communicate a clear vision. Share it verbally and often. Be disciplined to hold yourself and other team members "capable" of achieving the vision. Ask if your actions are taking you toward or away from your established vision. Stay in alignment.
  4. Commit daily, moment by moment, to taking decisive action. Reduce action steps to smaller daily tactics. Remember, non-action is a decision.
