4-step mentoring framework

After mentoring more than 250+ designers, here is a 4-step framework I have developed to make the mentoring effective.
1.Discovery before advising
Understand the root cause and the pain points of your mentees. Keep asking why questions to understand the problem. Assess the blocker that's holding them back from advancing to the next steps.
2.Visualize the roadmap
I often open up a Google Doc or Notion document and write down a plan and roadmap to effectively reach their goals. Structure helps build clarity.
3.Curate trustworthy resources
Even though there are tons of resources out there, many struggle to understand which one to choose. Curate the trusted and credible resources that will help them in the next steps. Everyone is different; what resource works for one might not work for another, so always personalize the resources.
4.Measure success and establish an accountability framework
Understand what success looks like and track it on a per-call basis. Also, ask accountability-focused questions to make sure the guidance has been implemented. I provide access to chat during the mentoring period, as synchronous communication can be helpful here.
If you're stuck with your career journey, send me a DM. I am happy to answer a couple of questions.
