The great thing about LinkedIn is that the platform is?constantly?changing things to better meet its users’ needs. Since its inception, LinkedIn has rolled out new tools year after year, and in?2005 ?LinkedIn introduced LinkedIn Marketing Solutions – its first ad that has since allowed marketers to reach a targeted audience. Since then, we have seen many new rollouts to the LinkedIn Marketing feature.

These include:

  • 2013: Sponsored Content
  • 2014: Bizo acquisition (ad technology)
  • 2016: Account Targeting
  • 2017: Lead Gen Forms
  • 2018: Video Ads
  • 2019: Objective-Based Advertising & other special targeting features
  • 2020: Deeper audience insights & CRM Integration
  • 2021: Article Publication, LinkedIn Live Events, & Conversion Tracking
  • 2022: Enhanced boosting & ad capabilities

To make the most of your time on LinkedIn, you must develop a solid LinkedIn marketing strategy. This strategy should include the goals you want to achieve with your Business Page, the purpose of the Page and your overall advertisement budget.

When you advertise on LinkedIn, you increase visibility, generate new prospects or business opportunities, and can measure your ads’ ROI. Since LinkedIn is a platform built for professionals, compared to other social media sites, LinkedIn’s advertisement capabilities allow you to narrow your search further by industry, skill set, job title, company size, etc. This means that you can target a narrower and more personalized group of people, saving you time and unproductive reach-out efforts.

The four types of LinkedIn Ads available to you are:

1. Text Ads

2. Message Ads

3. Dynamic Ads

4. Sponsored Content

No matter what size your company is, LinkedIn has campaign options that can significantly improve your outreach to reach your target audience and meet your LinkedIn marketing goals.

According to LinkedIn data, sponsored content that includes a statistic receives a 37% higher click rate and 162% more impressions.

How can you optimize your content to improve your engagement quality and quantity? We list our tips below.

Images: Since the beginning of time, pictures have been used to tell a story, which still holds today. Photos capture an audience’s attention before words are read, so whenever you post content,?ALWAYS?include a graphic.

Linkability uses Canva for all our graphic needs if you’re unsure where to start.

Share: Tag people, leave shoutouts, and mention pages. Doing so furthers your exposure and builds relationships.

First Impressions: Whatever you do, leave a great first impression. If you’re connecting with new potential leads, show your best self. If you’re writing new content, come up with an engaging first sentence and title (where applicable).

Include a CTA: What do you want your network’s next step to be? Is your goal for them to sign up for an event? Reach out to you? Leave a comment. Whatever your intention is, ensure you provide a clear link/direction for your audience to learn more about what you have to offer.

Hashtags: Include at least five relevant hashtags for each post.

To check how popular a hashtag is, go to the search bar, and type a #, followed by the word or phrase.

Find ideal time to post:?LinkedIn studies ?show that the ideal time to post on LinkedIn is on Wednesday 8-10 am, Thursday at 9 am and 1-2 pm, and Friday at 9 am.?
