4 Reasons Belly Fat Is Dangerous
Sometimes we laugh and joke about the guy with a dad bod...especially in male dominated circles; I mean, it's just a bit of banter right?
But underneath all of that is a REAL issue. One that I don't think we talk about enough as a society
Excessive belly fat is actually dangerous: I just don't think we realise; in todays edition of the Elite Health Journal I wanna give you 4 reasons why this is dangerous and what you can do it overcome it:
Reason number 1:
Increased Risk of Chronic Diseases: Belly fat, also known as visceral fat, is located deep within the abdominal cavity and surrounds vital organs like the liver, pancreas, and intestines.
This type of fat is metabolically active and produces harmful substances that can lead to inflammation and insulin resistance.
As a result, men with excess belly fat are at a higher risk of developing chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and even certain types of cancer. And the worse thing about this particular issue is that it is totally preventable yet not enough men do the work to solve this issue
Reason number 2:
Testosterone Decrease: Belly fat isn't just a passive storage area for excess energy; it's also an endocrine organ that releases hormones and cytokines.

When visceral fat accumulates, it disrupts the balance of hormones in the body, particularly increasing levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) and decreasing levels of testosterone.
This hormonal imbalance can lead to reduced muscle mass, low energy, mood swings, and decreased libido. You might think you are a stallion in the bedroom now but in a few years if you keep going - things will change!
Reason number 3:
Impaired Cardiovascular Health: Belly fat is a strong indicator of poor cardiovascular health.
It contributes to the development of atherosclerosis, the hardening and narrowing of arteries due to plaque buildup. As arteries narrow, blood flow is restricted, leading to high blood pressure and an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. Moreover, visceral fat promotes the production of bad cholesterol (LDL) and reduces the levels of good cholesterol (HDL), further jeopardizing heart health.
Reason number 4:
Impact on Mental Health: Excess belly fat can have a significant impact on a man's mental health and self-esteem. The social stigma associated with obesity and the pressure to conform to certain body standards can lead to feelings of shame and poor self-image. This, in turn, can result in anxiety, depression, and reduced overall quality of life.
It is a sad feeling to not be confident taking your top off on holiday, or look in the mirror and see a body that doesn't reflect what you truly want
