The 4 Questions every Leader needs to ask when reflecting on the past.

Without reflection there is no learning and if we fail to learn from the past, we are destined to repeat the past time and time again. I have learnt so much from clients over the past 25 years. Toyota has taught me the power of reflection. I know they didn't invent it, but they are committed and consistent, doing it after every car launch, project completion or corporate event.
So, for me I have adapted this approach to use reflection at multiple levels in my life and business. For me I reflect after each presentation, at the end of each week, at the end of each month and after I launch a client program. It is not complex, for as you know if it is too complex people won’t do it. So here are the questions I use to reflect on the past in order to adjust or accelerate the success in the future …
- What worked well?
- What needed improving?
- What will I do differently next time?
- What do I need to do now to get started?
Now think about 2020 and ask yourself the 4 questions above. 2020 was a crazy year, but there were great learnings to be had from it, only if you stop and reflect. It is just too easy for most Leaders to focus on getting to the Christmas break, recharging the batteries and starting back into it again in 2021.
I encourage you to do this activity with your team as well.
