Have you ever felt an insecure vibe, that you might be giving off, even though you’re not doing it on purpose, you sense you’re hesitancy…
?
To clarify what I mean by “insecure vibes” I mean the vibes you are subconsciously giving off, (Clues and signals) that you’re uncertain about what you’re about to say, (it’s kind of like the subtle smell of perfume)… No one says anything about it but they can smell it…
?
These vibes show up when you’re feeling nervous, anxious or uncertain of yourself, and uncertain of how others are going to respond to you…?
?
The most annoying part is these worries can turn into ?
Self-induced outcomes because here’s how it plays out:??
?
?? You are nervous? ?
?? The other person can smell it? ?
?? Then you get more nervous (Because you can tell they’re picking up on it)? ?
?? Then they start having judgments about your nervousness (they start to doubt you, which is what you were worried about in the first place)? ?
?? Which makes you EVEN MORE nervous.. and gives them even more reason to doubt you.?
?
This above example can often lead to Overcompensating and over-explaining:
For example:
?
Assuming the response will be no before you even propose your idea. You prepare caveats instead of focusing on the benefits of your points, you talk really fast to get it over with.?
?
Or you give a long drawn-out response when a short quick one-sentence would have been more impactful.?
?
You opt for Slack or emailing when you know that you should probably pick up the phone or go and see them, but you don’t really want to because you’re nervous about messing up the communication and you’d rather avoid the discomfort of it.?
?
Over-explaining because you already feel like you know the other person will be doubtful and skeptical. So you bring up defense points to things no one has even challenged you with.??
?
Squash insecure vibes by asking yourself:? ?
1?? Do I need to say this? ?
2?? Is this necessary to get the point across? ?
3?? If I was only allowed to give them quick impactful bullet points would I include this? ?
4?? If I felt confident about this idea, would I present it like this??
?
Get rid of insecure vibes—and your writing, meetings, presentations, negotiations, and pitches will become stronger.
?
If this has been helpful,?

8 个月Thing to Think About Understand that it's not your circumstance that cause your feelings but the THOUGHT about your circumstance that creates your feeling about it. ? Let me tell you a POWERFUL secret. ? Nothing outside of you has the power to control how we feel!?? ? No matter how painful your past, no matter how horrible the current circumstance, the only thing that can cause you pain is your thought about it. ? When you begin to understand your thoughts are what controls the way you feel, you can start to change your thoughts to change your life. This is exciting news because it means you can take your power back. Your past or current circumstances do not control you. ? You don’t have to depend on anyone else to change the way you feel. ? You don’t have to change anything on the outside to feel better. ? You can change your mind and feel better right now. Understand it’s not your fault, it's your brain's fault. We think over 60,000 thoughts a day. 60,000!!!!! ? And over 80% of those thoughts are negative or NOT true. ? When you are mindful of the multitude of negative thoughts and lies your brain is telling you, you can become aware of why you are feeling stuck, fearful, and anxious.
